Merrimack, Hollis Brookline fall in summer baseball

By Tom King - Staff Writer | Jul 2, 2020

Mother Nature played a bit of a role in the local baseball schedule on Wednesday, but so did some good baseball players as well.

Here’s a look:

NHCBL

EXETER 3,

MERRIMACK 2

Merrimack (3-2) dropped its second straight, despite a good performance on the mound and at the plate by Nick Wilson.

Wilson went 1 for 3 with a double and drove in both of the locals’ runs. On the mound, he fanned five in 4.2 innings, but gave up three runs on five hits. Exeter picked up its first win, now 1-4.

Merrimack looks to get back on track on Saturday with a 10 a.m.holiday game vs. the New Hampshire Prospects White at Harvey Woods.

NASHUA-NHP RED

SUSPENDED

Nashua and the New Hampshire Prospects Red were suspended by rain with the game scoreless in the top of the fourth inning at Bishop Guertin’s Elliott Field. No resumption date has been determined as of yet.

Nashua is off until Monday when it travels to Laconia for a 7 p.m. game at Robbie Mills Park.

NHIBL

LONDONDERRY 9,

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 0

It was a tough season opener for visiting HB, as Londonderry’s Nolan Lincoln and Alex Cafaro combined on a two-hit shutout.
