Silver Knights rally but can’t catch Suns
A late-inning resurgence fell short Thursday night for the Nashua Silver Knights in Pittsfield as the Suns held on for a 7-5 victory.
Pittsfield built a 4-0 lead after three innings but Nashua began clawing back into the game with Benjamin Cowles’ RBI double in the sixth.
A bases-loaded hit batsman and Dylan Jones’ RBI single brought in two more runs in the seventh.
Pittsfield scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh before the Silver Knights scored a pair in the eighth, one on Noah Lucier’s RBI single.
The Silver Knights are back at Holman Stadium tonight for a 6:45 game against Bristol.
Spinners 7, ValleyCats 3
Yusniel Padron-Artilles allowed just two hits over six innings, leading the Lowell Spinners over the Tri-City ValleyCats on Thursday. The Spinners swept the three-game series with the win.
Padron-Artilles (2-0) picked up the win after he struck out eight and walked one while allowing one run.
Fisher Cats 4, Thunder 2
Logan Warmoth hit a run-scoring triple in the eighth inning, leading the New Hampshire Fisher Cats to a 4-2 win over the Trenton Thunder on Thursday.
The triple by Warmoth, part of a three-run inning, gave the Fisher Cats a 2-1 lead before Kevin Smith hit a two-run home run later in the inning.
Justin Dillon (1-0) got the win with a scoreless inning in relief while Will Carter (1-1) took the loss in the Eastern League game.
