Title Winners Again! South boys win Meet of Champions

They were champions of Division I a week ago, and now the Nashua High School South boys cross country Panthers are now overall state champions.
South scored 78 points, just ahead of Hanover’s 94 in the Meet of Champions at Alvirne High School in Hudson on Saturday. Souhegan took fifth with 170 points, behind fourth place Pinkerton (146) and third place Coe-Brown (132).
Also locally, Bishop Guertin was seventh (202) while Milford finished 10th.
Bishop Guertin’s Matthew Giardina had a time of 15:11.68 to take home the overall win as the state’s top cross country runner. South was led by Dante Castellano (eighth, 15:36.27), Daniel Byrne (13th, 15:48.58), Andrew Byrne (14th, 15:49.03), Cameron Patronick (15:59.71) and Ryan DuVarney (46th).
Carson Fisher and Samuel Prescott finished 24th and 41st respectively for the Cardinals.
Representing Souhegan were Owen Stine (17th, 15:57.89), Taloosh Anderson (25th), Dallen Noorda (35th) and Finley Irvine (43rd).
Logan Korthals and Daniel Sixon placed in 21st and 36th respectively for Milford.
GIRLS
Oyster River took the girls title with 61 points, ahead of Hanover’s 81 and Pinkerton’s 82. Nashua North was the top local team, finishing eighth (233).
Souhegan’s Samantha Swanbon (18:21.78) bested all the local runners with a ninth place finish and Stephanie Svendsen placed 41st. Laura White had a time of 18:41.28 to finish in the 14th position for the Nashua North Titans. Bishop Guertin’s Anna Fondakowski finished 23rd and Lyla Masson ended her day in 24th. Melanie Bedard finished 37th for Merrimack and Emely Melendez was 60th for Nashua South.
