HS Roundup: Panthers, Titans win; BG field hockey rolls

Thursday was a good day for Nashua high school boys soccer, as both the North and the unbeaten South squads won. Just out of town, Hollis Brookline got a win in its longstanding rivalry with Souhegan.

Meanwhile, North volleyball continued its winning streak. And don’t forget the Bishop Guertin High School field hockey team, as the Cards picked up their 11th win to end the regular season and await their tournament seeding.

Let’s take a look at a very, very busy Thursday’s action:

BOYS SOCCER

NASHUA SOUTH 10,

TIMBERLANE 1

Jameson Mondale captures a hat trick in the Panthers decisive win over the Owls. Sam Hadouche and Jadiel Bomfim each found the back of the net twice. Keshay Rangan, Fernando Figueroa and Max Lopez rounded out the scoring with one goal each.

South, which is ranked seventh nationally and tops in New England by the United Soccer Coaches, moves to 13-0-1 and they will host Keene on Monday.

NASHUA NORTH 3,

ALVIRNE 0

The Titans (7-7) went into Hudson and came out with shutout against the Broncos (5-8-1). Estevan Arango, Gaurav Maharjan (one goal, two assists) and Arthur Santos (one goal, one assist) held down the fort for North. Chino Ramos played well in net for the Titans.

North hosts Londonderry and Alvirne visits Dover on Tuesday.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 3,

SOUHEGAN 1

Owen Damon knocks in two goals to put the Cavaliers (10-1-2) over the Sabers (5-8). Hunter Crea added a goal and an assist and Noah Sinclair had one assist. Cavs goalie Jackson Scherer tallied three saves.

Souhegan’s Coleman Paulinin scored off an assist from Joe Bernasconi and Ryan Lockitt made eight saves.

HB visit Lebanon and Souhegan hosts Merrimack Valley on Saturday.

PINKERTON 4,

BISHOP GUERTIN 1

The Cardinals (3-11) lose their fourth straight game with a road loss to the Astros. Kieran Hummer scored one goal and Duran made 10 saves.

BG hosts Hanover on Tuesday.

CONCORD 4,

MERRIMACK 1

The Tomahawks (3-11) losing streak continues with their sixth in a row. Carson Papp scored the lone goal and Matt Schmitt made 12 saves in net. Merrimack visits Goffstown on Tuesday.

GIRLS SOCCER

TIMBERLANE 4,

NASHUA SOUTH 2

The Panthers were outlasted by the Owls Thursday, dropping their record to 6-6-2. Soraya Ross and Addison Varley scored for the locals while Lily Stutz anchored the defense.

South hosts Merrimack on October 21.

CONCORD 4,

MERRIMACK 3

The Tomahawks (5-7-1) fell in a back and forth affair as Alexis Best, Caila Scully and Emma Valluzzi (one assist) tallied one goal apiece.

Jill Dorf added an assist and Emily Theriault collected six saves. Merrimack visits Winnacunnet on Friday.

FIELD HOCKEY

BISHOP GUERTIN 5,

TIMBERLANE 0

The Cardinals got two goals from Sophia Alton, and single tallies by Taylor Guibord, Mikhaila Mendell and Ellie Butler as they finished the regular season at 11-4-1.

BG will await its Division I tournament seeding as the postseason starts with the preliminary round next Wednesday.

EXETER 5,

NASHUA SOUTH 0

The Panthers took a loss in their last game of the season to a one loss Exeter squad. Kaitlyn Tello played great in net collecting 22 saves. South ends the season 3-9-4.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

NASHUA NORTH 3,

DOVER 2

The Titans (7-8) win their fifth straight game by taking Dover the distance winning 18-25, 26-28, 25-22, 25-20, 16-14. Mina Regnery covered the floor collecting an outstanding 31 digs. Mardy Novak (26 assists, six kills, two aces), Alyssa Stanton (19 digs, 18 kills, nine aces), Kelechi Okorie (seven kill, two blocks), Livi Mazerolle (seven kills, two aces) and Kelsey Laliberte (seven kills, two blocks) controlled the game on both sides of the net.

North visits Exeter on Monday.

WINDHAM 3,

MERRIMACK 0

The Tomahawks (3-13) lost in straight sets 12-25, 18-25, 7-25. Emily Winefield had 10 digs and Mia Mantini added five digs. Merrimack visits Timberlane on Monday.

MILFORD 3,

SOMERSWORTH 0

The Spartans (11-3) took care of business at home for their seventh straight win beating Somersworth 25-12, 25-14, 25-10. Stella Crosby had a great night racking up 15 aces and four digs.

Madi Murphy (14 assists, nine aces), Izzy Unsworth (seven kills, three aces, two digs), Ali Fortin (five kill, one ace) and Bailey Johnson (two blocks, two kills) also had standout game for the Spartans. Milford visits Pelham on October 20.

ST. THOMAS 3,

CAMPBELL 0

The Cougars (10-4) get swept on the road 21-25, 16-25, 16-25. Elayna Montenero had nine digs, Catherine Carignan and Kristina Castallano knocked down five and four kills respectively. Campbell hosts Souhegan on Monday.
