It’s Week Seven and we’re still in Football Heaven. Some key games this week, including North-Salem, BG-Pinkerton, and Campbell-Pelham.

Here’s a capsule look:

DIVISION I

SALEM (3-2)AT NASHUA NORTH (3-3)

WHEN: Friday, 6:30 p.m.

WHERE: Nashua’s Stellos Stadium.

LAST WEEK: Bishop Guertin 26, Nashua North 25; Salem 34, Keene 22.

LAST YEAR: North 33, Salem 28 (Division I semis)

FYI: The Blue Devils will be pumped for their third game this season at Stellos, as this was the semifinal they felt they let get away, as they gave the Titans their toughest game of their championship season. Both teams need this game for postseason chances; Salem has Londonderry next week and Merrimack in the finale; North has Pinkerton and Londonderry on the road. Ouch.

NASHUA SOUTH (1-5) at ALVIRNE (0-5).

WHEN: Friday, 7 p.m.

WHERE: Alvirne High School, Hudson.

LAST WEEK: Pinkerton 28, Nashua South 21; Merrimack 35, Alvirne 28.

LAST YEAR: Nashua South 47, Alvirne 0.

FYI: It hasn’t been a good season results-wise for either team, but both played likely their best games of the year a week ago in defeat. Alvirne lost quarterback Jacob Bradshaw to a knee injury, so it’s possible Zach Peters could play QB in this one, and he’s got a good target in Cole Bucknam. Meanwhile, the Panthers Connor Rowsell had a career day with 11 catches vs. Pinkerton, so he and back Josh Compoh will be a focal point again for South.

WINDHAM (1-5) at MERRIMACK (2-4)

WHEN: Friday, 6:30 p.m.

WHERE: MHS Student Memorial Field.

LAST WEEK: Londonderry 42, Windham 13; Merrimack 35, Alvirne 28.

LAST YEAR: Did not play.

FYI: If you match up offenses, it looks like the Tomahawks have the edge with QB Kyle Crampton, receiver Shea Goodwn and running back xxxxx. Windham, despite some good play from QB Josh Sweeney and backs Tiger An and Kavi Patel, has not scored more than 14 points all season.

PINKERTON (5-1) at BISHOP GUERTIN (5-1)

WHEN: Saturday, 6:30 p.m.

WHERE: Stellos Stadium.

LAST WEEK: BG 26, North 25; Pinkerton 28, South 21.

LAST YEAR: Did not play.

FYI: A great matchup that should be a Division I quarterfinal preview as the odds are BG will be the second seed with a West title and the Astros No. 3 as the South runnerup; the outcome of this game likely won’t change that. Two teams that love to run, PA with Cole Yennaco and BG with Charlie Bellavance and Matt Santosuosso. If the Astros get their cornerback starters back, they could be tough against the pass. This is a good measuring stick for the Cards, should be fun.

DIVISION II

HANOVER (5-1) at SOUHEGAN (3-2)

WHEN: Friday, 7 p.m.

WHERE: Souhegan’s Saber Field.

LAST WEEK: Milford 34, Hanover 7; Souhegan 47, Hillsboro-Deering-Hopkinton 8.

LAST YEAR: Did not play.

FYI: Right now, the pattern seems clear for the Sabers and the QB Romy Jain-led offense: Score more than 30 points, they win; less, they don’t do so well. Hanover had given up 24 points in three games previous to its first loss of the season to Milford last week, at home. So this could be interesting.

MANCHESTER WEST (4-2) at MILFORD (5-1).

WHEN: Friday, 7 p.m.

WHERE: Milford High School.

LAST WEEK: Milford 34, Hanover 7; West 41, Pembroke 28.

LAST YEAR: Did not play.

FYI: This looks like a meeting of contrasting styles. West is on a four-game winning streak, having scored between 39 and 54 points in those games after just 14 each against contenders Lebanon and Hanover. Milford got back Caden Zalenski back last week and paired with Logan Barnhill and QB Charlie Urda, it’s a tough team to beat. West is looking to move up to Milford’s level, but the Spartans will just keep running straight ahead.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE (2-4) at BOW (1-3)

WHEN: Saturday, 2 p.m.

WHERE: Bow High School.

LAST WEEK: Bow did not play; Hollis Brookline 34, John Stark 8.

LAST YEAR: Did not play.

FYI: It’s been such a tough year for the Falcons, who have suffered tragic losses and then were hit with COVID protocols, but this game is apparently on. HB got into an offensive rhythm for the second straight week behind Riley McQuilkin and have scored 62 points in last two games. Isaiah Velez is a threat as a returner on special teams.

DIVISION III

CAMPBELL (5-1) at PELHAM (5-0)

WHEN: Friday, 7 p.m.

WHERE: Pelham High School.

LAST WEEK: Campbell 18, Monadnock 0; Pelham did not play.

LAST YEAR: Pelham 40, Campbell 0; Pelham 35, Campbell 0 (Division III playoffs).

FYI: The defending champion Pythons have a dynamic offense behind backs Kevn Bodenrader and William Nichols. The Cougars, likely playoff bound, would love to disrupt that group, and keep the score low to allow for Nate Perry and QB Jackson Kinaley to control the game and the clock. It would be a signature win for Campbell in terms of playoff positioning.
