HS Roundup: Cards blank ‘Hawks, HB-Milford ends in tie

It may have been a light day in the non-football local high school sports world, but don’t tell that to a few area teams who met each other on Friday.

Bishop Guertin continued its winning, unbeaten girls soccer ways while Milford and Hollis Brookline also battled.

Meanwhile, the Alvirne-Salem football game, set for last night in Hudson, was cancelled due to COVID protocols.

Let’s take a look:

GIRLS SOCCER

BISHOP GUERTIN 4,

MERRIMACK 0

The Cardinals (8-0) continue their hot streak over the Tomahawks (4-4) with goals by Katie Boudreau, Renee LeBlanc, Hannah Lord (on a penalty kick) and Brooke Paquette.

Martha Lord had two assists and Kate Daley added one.

Merrimack’s Molly Perkins had six saves; while Emma Valluzzi, Caila Scully and Nora McMakin played well.

BG visits Alvirne on Tuesday and Merrimack visits Manchester Central on October 1.

MILFORD 1,

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 1

The Spartans (5-1-3) and Cavaliers (3-4-1) contest was decided by a tie on Friday afternoon. Marissa Sage had the lone goal for the Spartans and Sarah Sawyer and Keely Giordono had great games.

Paige Magnuszewski scored on a Rachel Brackett assist for Merrimack. Maggie Crooks, Mackenna Maguire, Lily Bouchard and Keira King had stellar performances.

Milford hosts Bow and Hollis Brookline hosts Pelham on Tuesday.

CAMPBELL 5,

CONANT 2

Josie Oberto and Morgan Wagner found the back of the net twice in the Cougars (3-5) win.

Riley Barka added one goal with Brooke Stoncius, Alex Wallenmaier, Olivia Moreau, Gabby Kim-Levesque and Kate Soule contributing assists.

Myleigh Pomerleau and Lydia Payne also played well for the locals, who visit Prospect Mountain on Tuesday.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

SOUHEGAN 3,

HANOVER 1

Lina Carroll tallied 10 assists and 10 service points in the Sabers win on Friday. Lexi Blastos (four kills, two service points), Caitlin Cooper (four kills, four service points) and Ari Jeanbaptist (three kills, two blocks) had big contributions for the locals. Souhegan visits ConVal on Tuesday.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 219

The Cavaliers come in third in their match on Friday afternoon. Cavan Quinn, Lauren Mauch, Reid Mitchell, Braeden O’Connor and Martin Bergeron were the top five scorers for HB. The group combined for 17 pars and 19 bogies.
