HS Roundup: Titan girls get dramatic win; Milford, HB stay unbeaten

The Nashua High School North girls soccer team couldn’t have prepped any better for Thursday’s big rivalry game with Nashua South, as they won in dramatic fashion on Tuesday with a goal in the final minute vs. Winnacunnet.

The Titan boys, however, found out that a trip to Hampton is no day at the beach. And the Hollis Brookline and Milford boys soccer teams kept up their end of the bargain with wins, setting up a battle of unbeatens in Hollis on Saturday.

GIRLS SOCCER

NASHUA NORTH 2,

WINNACUNNET 1

The Titans won in dramatic fashion, with Brooke Lane’s direct kick from the 40 yard line finding the back of the net with just 35 seconds left.

North’s other goal was by Lily Baker Oliveria, and the Titans got good play in goal from freshman Nora Ross, called up from the JVs after a season-ending injury to starting keeper Grace Cardin.

North, now 2-4, gears up for Thursday’s Battle of the Bridge with city rival Nashua South.

NASHUA SOUTH 2,

ALVIRNE 2 (2OT)

The Panthers (3-2-2) and the Broncos (3-2-2) couldn’t decide on a winner in the tough battle and took it to double overtime, before a tie was decided. Addison Varley and Camille Michon scored the goals for South. Goalie Abby Finchum made 15 saves and Kylie Dawe played well on defense.

Paige Boudreau scored both goals for Alvirne which brings her season total to 12. Lyla Davis, Mia Francisco and Halle Miller had a great game in the midfield.

South faces Nashua North and Alvirne visits Salem on Thursday.

BOW 3,

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 2

The Cavaliers (3-4) dropped their third game in a row at the hands of undefeated Bow. HB held a 1-0 lead going into halftime. Rachel Brackett (one goal, one assist), Madeleine Boudreau (one assist) and Mackenna Maguire (one goal) controlled the offense for the locals.

Maggie Crooks played strong in net collecting 22 saves. HB hosts Milford on Friday.

MILFORD 5,

KENNETT 1

The Spartans (5-1-2) continue their strong run with their fourth win in a row. Brooke Gizzonio had two goals and Marissa Sage had two assists to lead the offensive attack. Addison Hopkins, Alina St George and Hailey Lloyd added goals. Emily Dube also contributed in the win. Milford visits Hollis Brookline on Friday.

CAMPBELL 5,

SOMERSWORTH 1

The Cougars (2-5) grab a much needed win on Tuesday afternoon on the road. Goal scorers were Alex Wallenmaier, Morgan Wagner, Josie Oberto (assist), Riley Barka and Kate Soule. Brooke Stoncius, Olivia Moreau and Lydia Payne (two assists) added in the assist column. Myleigh Pomerleau and Gabby Kim-Levesque had great games on defense. Campbell hosts Conant on Friday.

BOYS SOCCER

WINNACUNNET 2,

NASHUA NORTH 0

The Titans struggled out on the seacoast after a strong start in which they outplayed the Warriors for the first 12 minutes. Things turned for the worst when Winnacunnet grabbed a 1-0 lead and stayed that way the rest of the game.

One bright spot for North, now 2-3, was the play of backup goalie Yazid Poolakal in the second half, who kept the Titans in the game with several saves, including one on a penalty kick.

The Titans now take on unbeaten Nashua South Thursday night in the Battle of the Bridge.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 1,

BOW 0

Ben Dufoe scored on a cross ball from John Kotelly in the 20th minute that would eventually be the game winner. Owen Ford had four saves in net. Alex James, Aidan Dufoe, Nate McEvoy and Tommy Anderson anchored the defense. HB sits at 8-0 hosts 7-0 Milford on Saturday.

MILFORD 7,

KENNETT 1

The Spartans (7-0) capture their seventh win in a row after a decisive home win. Bernard Glusac led with two goals; while Goran Skoric, Connor Sullivan Jay Remella Tyler O’Brien and Aden Cremonini scored one each.

Milford will visits Holli Brookline in the battle of the unbeatens on Saturday.

EXETER 2,

BISHOP GUERTIN 0

The Cardinals (1-6) drop their fifth straight game in a shutout loss. Exeter opened up the scoring in the second half after a scoreless first half of play. Kieran Hummer and keeper Aidan Laurendeau played well for the locals.

BG hosts Merrimack on Thursday.

The Cavaliers came in third and the Broncos came in last in their match at Pembroke Pines. Cavan Quinn, Reid Mitchell, Charlie Hale, Braeden O’Connor and Alex Razzaboni were top for HB. They all combined for three birdies, 11 pars and 15 bogies.

Alvirne’s Noah LeClair was a medalist shooting a 35. Ashton Meuse represented the Broncos well with a 45.

The Titans came in third in their match at Amherst Country Club on Tuesday. Eva Gonzales (37), Andrew Barry (41), Jack Sullivan (42), Jeff Maddock (45) and Braeden Welch (45) were the top finishers for North.
