HS Roundup: No rain on North, South or BG girls lax teams

The weather may have been lousy but it didn’t rain on the parades of several local girls lacrosse teams who came up with wins, including Nashua North, South and Bishop Guertin.

There was plenty of other action despite the rain, including boys lacrosse, softball and track. Here’s a look:

GIRLS LACROSSE

NASHUA SOUTH 14,

MANCHESTER CENTRAL 0

Audrey Mullaney and Keira Walsh preserved the shutout in net at Stellos Stadium for the Panthers, their second straight over the Little Green this week. Ella Benzekri had two goals and three assists, while Soleil Dubois, Kaitlyn West and Olivia Johnson each had two goals and an assist.

Rounding out the scoring for South with one goal each were Bella Walsh, Maya Rioux, Kylie Dawe ( also five draw controls), Morgan Preston, Nessa Reeder, and Morgan Udzanovich.

Jenna Hamelin had three ground balls and Bailey Carroll had 2 ground balls and two interceptions for the 2-0 Panthers, who are at Keene next week.

NASHUA NORTH 11,

MERRIMACK 9

Kiley O’Brien had a huge day for the Titans (2-0), with eight goals and two assists. Lily Brooks added two goals and Keira Sice had a single tally.

Makayla O’Brien had four loose ball controls while Kaitlyn Laurendi, Kavlyn Crear, and Natalee McInerney provided excellent midfield defense for North.

Paige Rivet led Merrimack with four goals and an assist while Hailey Rivet had three goals. Lilly Marshall (goal, assist) and Vanessa Kozinski (goal) added to the scoring for the ‘Hawks, who got great defense from Vanessa Kozinski , Elise Fasano and Arianna Arnold.

BISHOP GUERTIN 14,

LONDONDERRY 3

The Cards improved to 2-0 thanks to Rylee Bouvier’s six goals and an assist, plus three goals by Maddy Keating and a pair from Lindsay Hult.

Others in the scoring column were Nat Coutu (goal, two assists), Katie Campel (single goal), Step Reap (two assists), and Lauren Reedfern and Tannah O’Neil Blake (one assist each).

Makenna Reekie had two saves for the Cards, who face rival Pinkerton Academy twice next week.

BEDFORD 10,

SOUHEGAN 8

The Sabers fell to the Bulldogs for the second time this week despite 13 saves in net by Shannon Hargreaves and three goals and an assist by Cali Bishop.

Abby Hawkes had two goals, while single goals went to Margot Manz (with three draw controls), Elle Stevenson and Lyla Kimball.

BOYS LACROSSE

EXETER 16,

NASHUA SOUTH 8

Drew Fleury had three goals and an assist but the visiting Panthers dropped their second game to the Blue Hawks, who were led by Spencer Clarke’s six goals and two assists, this week.

Connor Rowsell had a pair of goals for South (0-2) while Nate Campbell, Griffin Johnson and Sam Fletcher had a goal apiece. Aidan Walsh took 18 of 24 faceoffs.

Sophomore Colin Sewade was pressed into goalie duty after starter Ethan Johnson got hurt in pre-game. The Panthers host Timberlane Saturday at 11 a.m. at Stellos Stadium.

BISHOP GUERTIN 18,

LONDONDERRY 6

Jon Krikorian had five goals, Declan Wilkie four, and Michael Kiely and Aiden Laurendeau each a hat trick as the Cards improved to 2-0 with the win at rainy Stellos Stadium.

Nick McGovern had two goals and four assists, while Tim Kiely had a single goal. Other assists went to Aidan Ahearn (two), Kiely (two), Wilkie (two) and single assistsy by Krikorian, John Sullivan, Connor Guibord and Dawson Clark.

Guertin goalies Zach Connerty, Dylan Steward and Will Murphy combined for nine saves.

SOFTBALL

BISHOP GUERTIN 14,

SOUHEGAN 5

Junior Meghan Davey went the distance for the Cardinals, striking out five and giving up five hits and no walks. Offensively, BG’s Petra Bajdek went 3 for 4 on the day and Junior Maddy Bowen hit a grand slam to the opposite field, bringing in Bajdek, Stephanie Coulombe, and Torey Hart.

Olivia Harnish went 3 for 3 with a single, triple and two-run homer for the Sabers, while teammate Megan Sinner added a homer.

GIRLS TRACK

BISHOP GUERTIN 77,

LONDONDERRY 43

Winners for the Cardinals included Kayleigh Moore in the 100 meters (13.88), Grace Jones in the 200 (28.19) and long jump (16-11), Fiona Doherty in the 400 (1:02.47), Kathleen Messer in the 100 and 300 hurdles (17.95, 53.60).

Guertin took the 4×100 relay with Caroline Cairns, Sophia Cote, Moore and Jones (54.10); the 4×400 with Elizabeth White, Ashley Perry, Jones and Doherty (4:43.32). Other BG winners: Audrey Murrin (high jump), and Marissa Parshley in the javelin (85-8).

BOYS TRACK

LONDONDERRY 88,

BISHOP GUERTIN 37

The Lancers swept the running events but Guertin’s Nathan Brodeur was a triple winner with firsts in the high jump (5-4), triple jump (34-7) and javelin (100-0). Charles Junod took second in the shot put and discus.
