Cardinals unbeaten in girls soccer; HB opens new field with win

Don’t look now, but the Bishop Guertin High School girls soccer team, which reached the Division I semifinals a year ago, is off to a 3-0 start after Saturday’s 3-0 win over constant contender Bedford.

Hailey Barker, Katie Boudreau, Martha Lord all scored for the Cards, with assists by Katie Boudreau, Grace Kelly and Hailey Barker.

Erin Morris and Maddy Bowen combined for 11 saves in the Guertin net. The Cards will square off against local rival Nashua North Tuesday in a battle of unbeatens at Stellos Stadium.

The Sabers (1-2) nailed down their first win as Jackie Hayden (two goals), Nathalie Patnaude, Greta Caulton, Bella Kraus and Lizzie Duchesne contributed goals. Souhegan visits Hollis Brookline next Saturday.

KEENE 5,

WILTON-LYNDEBOROUGH 4 (OT)

The Warriors battled it out with Division I Keene and eventually succumbed to an overtime loss. Elizabeth Jacob scored a hat trick and Brooke Lane added one goal. Sophia Sistachs and Adri Bausha each had an assist to add to the offense. Goalie Bri Fish had 25 saves in net. Wilton-Lyndeborough hosts Conant on Wednesday.

BOYS SOCCER

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 2,

MILFORD 0

The Cavaliers broke in their new turf field in fine fashion as Bryan Wright scored on a rebound of his own shot in the first half and Ethan Smith scored six minutes into the second. Nate McEvoy, who began the play on Wright’s goal, perfectly fed Smith.

Cavs defender Danny Kennedy made a stop at the goal line to preserve the shutout after the ball floated in over netminder Jackson Koopman’s head. John Kotelly and Aidan Dufoe also contributed defensively for HB, which hosts Souhegan next Saturday.

CAMPBELL 4,

PELHAM 0

The Cougars even their record at 2-2 after Saturday’s win. Mike Decarli, Connor Donaghey, Anthony Holder and Wyatt Hemming found the back of the net. Jack Noury played great in net securing seven saves in the shutout and Ryan Latsha had three assists. Campbell hosts Bishop Brady on Tuesday.

BEDFORD 6,

BISHOP GUERTIN 1

The Cardinals had a rough day against a stout Bulldogs squad, as they stay winless on the season. Guertin hosts Nashua North on Tuesday.

ALVIRNE 2,

GOFFSTOWN 1

Jack Ashworth knocked in the game winning goal with less than three minutes remaining. Jake Dufor added a goal and an assist for the locals. Alvirne visits South on Monday.

FIELD HOCKEY

SANBORN 3,

MILFORD 0

Erin Jasper, Nora Breton, Camie Hopkins, Hallie Gagnon and Aliah Gagnon played well for the visiting Spartans, despite dropping to 0-2 on the season.

Milford hosts Pelham next Saturday.

PINKERTON 3,

NASHUA SOUTH 0

The Panthers (2-1-1) suffer their first loss of the season. Courtney Tello had a big day with 35 saves in the cage while Amy Marison, Soleil Dubois and Lizzie Derusha also played well.

South plays Manchester Central on Monday.

BEDFORD 1,

BISHOP GUERTIN 0

After numerous scoring chances BG had trouble finding the back of the net in a hard fought battle.

Monina Tosi, Makenna Reekie, Rylee Bouvier, Lindsay Hult and Stephanie Reap played great for the locals.\

Guertin visits Nashua North on Monday.

CROSS COUNTRY

PINKERTON SWEEPS SOUTH

The Panthers fell to the Astros 27-32 in the girl’s race and 17-44 in the boy’s race. Nadia Zhecheva (20:08.23) paced the girls with a runner up finish, while Meghan Conway (20:11.23) was third and Jenna Lecklider (20:28.08) placed fourth.

In the boys race, Jesse Bordelon (17:33.41) finished his day in fourth, Connor Theodore (18:13.49) was eighth and Alex Thibeault (18:18.90) placed ninth.

GOLF

NORTH’S GONZALES FOURTH

IN NHIAA GIRLS TOURNEY

Nashua North’s Eva Gonzales shot an 81 to finish in fourth in the NHIAA Girls Indivdual Championships at Campbell’s Scottish Highlands.

Also, representing North was Taylor Barry who ended the day in eighth with an 87. Grace Conard (89) and Emma Kobs (105) finished 10th and 26th respectively for Nashua South. Alvirne’s Lauren Rudiger ended the day in 25th with a 103.
