Bronco, Cougar football teams fall; HB volleyball tops BG

In addition to the Nashua High School South’s loss, two other area football teams suffered lopsided scores on Friday night.

Here’s a look at those and all the other local high school sports action on Friday:

FOOTBALL

GOFFSTOWN 35,

ALVIRNE 6

The Broncos dropped to 0-2, their only score a two-yard Kyle Gora run.

“They were bigger, faster, stronger and way more experienced than us,” Broncos coach Tarek Rothe said of the 2-0 Grizzlies.

Alvirne visits Nashua South next Friday.

PELHAM 40,

CAMPBELL 0

The Cougars fell to 0-2 with a tough road loss at the hands of the Pythons, who dropped down to Division III after years in Division II.

Pelham (2-0) went up 28-0 in the second quarter and never looked back. The Cougars host Laconia next Saturday.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 3,

BISHOP GUERTIN 0

The 3-0 Cavaliers made it two wins over the Cards this week, taking the rematch 25-15, 25-13, 25-18.

Hanna Close (nine kills, eight digs), Cheyenne Colbert (nine kills), Emily Dreyer (eight kills), Angelina Leonard (27 assists), Jessica Cooper (11 digs) and

Annette Schlunk (four aces) paced the HB attack.

For Guertin (2-2), Megan Stack had three kills while Emma Charron (13 digs) and Julia Foster (five assists, five digs) also played well.

The Cards host Nashua North on Monday while the Cavs-Merrimack match Wednesday is still tentative.

PINKERTON 3,

NASHUA SOUTH 0

The 0-4 Panthers fell by set scores of 25-14, 25-21, and 25-3. Natalie Boyle (six kills, five digs), Kellie Ryan (four kills, four digs) and Anne Sherman (14 assists, five digs) paced the Panthers.

MILFORD 3,

SOUHEGAN 0

The Spartans swept their rivals by 25-19, 25-18, 25-11.

Izzy Unsworth (eight kills, eight digs),

Emma Tronkowski (13 assists, four aces, two kills) and Sophie Palmer (10 digs, four aces) led the win.

CAMPBELL 3,

PELHAM 0

It was a much needed win for the Cougars by a count of 25-11,25-14, 25-18.

Leading the way for Campbell were captain Chloe Steiniger (three aces, five ills, eight digs, 14 assists), Catherine Carignan (four aces, eight kills, nine digs), Morgan Bruner (four aces, four kills, two digs, one block, 11 assists) and Natalie Cloutier (one ace, two kills, seven digs).

GIRLS SOCCER

MILFORD 2,

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 1

Mikayla Thompson scored in the first half and Rachel Gizzonio put one in the far post with 16 minutes left for an insurance goal for the winners.

The Cavs finally got on the board three minutes later when Sofia Walle converted a Rachel Brackett feed.

Maggie Crooks had seven saves in goal for HB.

CAMPBELL 3,

BISHOP BRADY 0

Lydia Payne had two goals and one was by Morgan Wagner, who also had a great defensive game for the Cougars.

Karleigh Schultz had three assists.

BOYS SOCCER

SANBORN 2,

SOUHEGAN 0

Owen Paul got the only goal Sanborn would need two minutes into the second half.

Ryan Lockitt had six saves in goal for the Sabers (0-2-1).
