Good day for Alvirne with soccer, golf and cross country wins

The Alvirne High School girls soccer team is off to a fine start.

The Broncos improves to 2-0 as they score three second half goals to shutout Goffstown 3-0 on Tuesday night. Marissa Juliano led the effort with two goals and an assist and Paige Boudreau added a goal and an assist. Alvirne visits Goffstown on Thursday.

GIRLS SOCCER

PELHAM 6,

CAMPBELL 5

The Cougars drop to 1-3 after their third straight loss. Morgan Wagner tallied a hat trick, while Josie Oberto and Kate Soule also scored.

Campbell hosts Bishop Brady on Friday.

PINKERTON 2,

NASHUA SOUTH 0

The Panthers fell to 0-3 even as Haleigh Swabowicz played well in net with teammates Julianna Martin and Camille Michon also contributing for the locals. South visits Pinkerton on Thursday.

BOYS SOCCER

PINKERTON 2,

NASHUA SOUTH 0

The Panthers suffered their first loss (2-1) despite keeper Leo Kopicko’s eight saves in goal.

South welcomes Pinkerton on Thursday.

ALVIRNE 4,

GOFFSTOWN 2

Jake Dufor got the go-ahead goal early in the second half, assisted by Zach Proulx. The Broncos (2-0) went on to get another Dufor goal plus one by Jack Ashworth. Alvirne’s first half goal was by Keagan Bowen, off a Charlie Thomas cross, about 12 minutes in.

The Cougars (1-3) got swept by the scores of 17-25, 21-25, 20-25. Tori Allen led the offense with five kills and added three blocks, Chloe Steiniger had 11 digs and 16 assists and Elayna Montenero contributed 12 digs. Campbell hosts Pelham on Friday.

Noah LeClair shot a 41 for the Broncos in its win at the Amherst Country Club.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 200,

The Cavaliers squeezed out a great win against the host Jaguars as Garrett Sturges (36) placed first, followed by Grady Sturges (37) in second while Rory Klauber (40) tied for third place.

CROSS COUNTRY

BRONCOS SWEEP

The Broncos dominated the boys and girls meet against Goffstown. Brynna Anderson won the girls meet with a time of 23:27, Adrianna Fedoce placed third and Liah Simpson was fifth.

John Crawford had a time of 19:00.9 to take the 16-40 win for the boys, while Cooper Downey was second and A.J. Prescott finished in third.
