NASHUA – The Nashua South girls field hockey team knew that they’d be in for more of a game Wednesday with Nashua North than their five-goal win over the Titans on Monday.

They were right in a sense, but the Panthers still prevailed, 4-0. Kaitlyn West, who had all five South goals the other day, scored the first two, the first coming on a nice cross field feed from Audra Robinson. Soleil Dubois scored in the second quarter for a 3-0 halftime lead while Amy Marison got the Panthers’ fourth tally late in the fourth period.

“I knew today was going to be a lot tougher than Monday, when you play the same team back to back,” Panthers coach Ciki McIntire said. “You knew (the Titans) would make some adjustments. … But I thought they did a good job. We were up and down a little on a roller coaster ride, but for the most part I was pleased with the effort.”

So was her North counterpart.

“The effort was better, I thought the execution was better,” Titans coach Robert Bailey said. “We still had some breakdowns in our defensive end, so that’s an ongoing concern we’re going to keep working on.

“But all in all, I thought we generated a lot more scoring chances. Our transition game was better.”

Madilyn Phillips played well defensively for the Titans, as Bailey said the team calls her “the pit bull. She’s non-stop.”

Seniors Lauren Shaw and Mackenzie Smith also played well for North while goalie Madison Goulet had six saves. Courtney Tello had two stops for the Panthers.
