Titan runners sweep South; North golfers win as well

For the Nashua High School North cross country program, the season couldn’t have started out any better.

The Titans enjoyed a boys and girls sweep Tuesday over rival Nashua South.

The North girls snagged a 26-31 win as Dantia Braccio won the event with a time of 20:07.25 and teammate Caroline Dobens placed fourth in 21:17.21.

South’s Meghan Conway (20:09.92) and Nadezh Zhecheva (20:49.43) finished second and third respectively. South’s Jenna Lecklider was fifth (21:27.94).

But the Titans won it with depth, taking spots six through nine with Mariana Santos, Erin Sung, Annika Hayden and Christina Juris finishing in that order.

North continued its dominance with boys team picking up a 19-39 win over the Panthers. James Reel ran a time of 17:27.64 to take the win, with Robert Canaway (17:49.02) placing third, Connor Dowling fourth (17:36.56), Nikolas Drew fifth (17:57.29) and Matthew Robert sixth (17:57.71).

Jesse Bordelon was the highest finishing Panther with a runner up finish at 17:32.67. Panthers Juho Hahto (18:16.42) and Connor Theodore (18:27.47) were seventh and eighth, respectively.

North also topped South in a quad golf match yesterday. Here’s a look at that and the rest of Tuesday’s results around the area:

GOLF

The Titans took care of business at Green Meadow with a decisive victory. Bryce Zimmerman outplayed the competition scoring a 36 and teammate Eva Gonzales was right on his heels with a 37. Chris McQuinn also had a great day for North ending his day with a 39.

South’s Stephen Robbe had a 42, Josh Gao scored a 43 and Emma Kobs finished with a 48.

HOLLIS 194, MILFORD 245, SOUHEGAN 270

The Cavaliers come out on top at the Amherst Country Club. Garrett Sturges scored a match low 36, Grady Sturges had a 37 and Cayden Plummer tallied a 39 for Hollis Brookline. Milford’s Jacob Dube ended his day with a 39 tying for the third place medal while Brady Hansen had a 45. Souhegan was paced by Liam Deselle with a 45.

ALVIRNE 3,

CAMPBELL 1

Alvirne 3, Campbell 1

The Broncos (1-0) collect their first win of the season with great goalkeeping, plus a goal and an assist from Matt Fitzpatrick. Jake Dufour and Keagan Bowen also scored for the Broncos.

Mike Dicarli scored the lone goal for the Cougars (1-1) and Jack Noury made seven saves.

Alvirne visits Goffstown next Tuesday and Campbell hosts Hollis Brookline on Friday.

GIRLS SOCCER

ALVIRNE 7,

CAMPBELL 2

The Broncos picked up a dominant win over the Cougars to open the season as Paige Boudreau netted three goals.

Maddy Bertrand, Hannah Sellingham, Halle Miller and Mallory Busnach had one goal each.

Campbell’s goals were by Karleigh Schultz and Gabby Kim-Levesque. Alvirne hosts Goffstown next Tuesday and Campbell hosts Hollis Brookline on Saturday.

FIELD HOCKEY

MERRIMACK 1,

GOFFSTOWN 1

Paige Rivet nets the lone goal for the Tomahawks (0-0-1) in its season opening tie.

Kailey Daddona picked up an assist and Natalia Gonzalez made three saves in net. Merrimack hosts Nashua North next Tuesday.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

BISHOP GUERTIN 3,

MERRIMACK 0

The Cardinals’ sweep was by 25-16, 25-21, 30-28. Meghan Stack (10 kills, four blocks) and Caroline Sullivan (21 assists) led the offense for BG. Madison Keating (eight digs, four aces) and Emma Charron (15 digs) held the down the defensive end.

Merrimack’s Isabella Smith (four kills, five digs, four assists), Haley Smethurst (two kills, six digs) and Lily Petrocilli (two kills, seven digs, two blocks) played well in the loss.

Guertin and Merrimack will face off again on Friday.
