High School Highlights: Nashua North boys win seventh straight

Boys basketball

Nashua North 80, Pinkerton 49

Make that seven wins in a row for the hot-handed Titans (8-1). Curtis Harris and Sam McElliott each scored 14 points. North hosts cross-town rival South on Friday.

Milford 55,

John Stark 38

Nobody was stopping Joe Shepard as he ripped down 21 rebounds in the Spartans (5-6) win Tuesday night. Jake Greska led the scoring with 18 points, Gavin Urda tallied 14 and CJ Jones contributed 12 for the locals. Milford travels to Merrimack Valley on Friday.

Newmarket 82,

Wilton-Lynde. 34

The Warriors dropped to 4-8 on the season after Tuesday’s home loss. Jack Schwab (11 points), Kyler Tremblay (nine points) and Zach Taylor (10 points) played well for the locals. WLC visits Sunapee on

Friday.

Pelham 59,

Souhegan 34

The Sabers (4-5) drop their fourth game in a row after a home loss to the Pythons. Souhegan was down by two in the third quarter, until Pelham extended the lead to 10 by the end of the quarter. Matt McCool led the team with 11 points, Dawson Hamele scored six and Sam Corbett added five. Souhegan hosts Kearsarge on Friday.

Bishop Guertin 52, Windham 40

Sam Mullet and Mason Carroll each scored 15 points to lead the 8-2 Cardinals attack. Dylan Santosuosso scored 12 points. Guertin used a variety of defenses to hold Windham’s Joey DaSilva to 12 points. Guertin welcomes Merrimack on Friday.

Girls basketball

Campbell 56,

St. Thomas 41

After dropping their last three, the Cougars (6-7) took a home win. Tori Allen and Karleigh Schultz played phenomenal offense collecting 20 and 19 points respectively. Allen and Schultz continued their dominance on the defensive end. Allen tallied 21 rebounds and Schultz had 14 rebounds. Riley Gamache used her quick hands, gathering five steals to go with her 12 points. Campbell travels to Hopkinton on Wednesday.

John Stark 71,

Milford 20

The Spartans were down two starters due to illness and dropped to 0-12. Jessie Gendron led Milford with seven points and Carla Rodriguez chipped in five. Milford hosts Merrimack Valley on Wednesday.

Pelham 46,

Souhegan 26

The Sabers struggled on the road and at 3-8 are running out of time in the run for tournament position. Freshmen led the way for the Sabers as Hadley Corcoran had eight points and Katie Canavan pitched in five. Souhegan heads to Kearsarge on Thursday night.

Memorial 43,

Alvirne 42

The Broncos (2-9) fell short of finding their first win in the last six games at home against Memorial. Alvirne led by nine at the half and held the last possession, but failed to score at the buzzer. Paige McKinley had a team-high 14 points, Grace Hodgdon added 11 and Sara Ruigrok had nine. Alvirne travels to Trinity on Friday.

Hollis Brookline 66, Oyster River 23

The Cavaliers moved to 12-0 after a dominant road win. Christina Balsamo led all scorers with 21 points. Amanda Goclowski and Amanda Robbins tallied 14 and 11 points respectively. Hollis Brookline hosts Hanover on Friday.

Hanover 3,

Bishop Guertin 2

A late Hanover goal in the third period was the dagger in the Cardinals (3-7) loss. Kate Simpson and Lindsay Hult each scored a goal for the locals. Guertin hosts Souhegan on Saturday.

Skiing

Four local schools made their way to Mount Sunapee on Tuesday morning. Bishop Guertin made the most of their time on the mountain, gathering top-10 finishes. In the Giant Slalom, Sam Froio finished fourth (1:12.97), Sam Silloway placed eighth (1:16.36), Colby Rathbone was ninth (1:17.16) and Josh Jenkins (1:17.72) rounded the top 10. Nashua North’s Andrew Barry finished a respectable 14th, Aidan LaPorte from Merrimack was 21st and Nashua South’s Benjamin Clark was 28th. Froio (1:07.43) took a runner up finish in the Slalom course. Guertin teammates Colin Rathbone (fourth) and Silloway (10th) also had great finishes. Other sfinishing the Slalom were Spencer Hunt (North, 14th), Connor Forti (South, 19th) and Alex Ambrosini (Merrimack, 21st). Guertin’s Kate Simpson (1:17.55) led the local girls with a fifth place finish in the Giant Slalom. North’s Zoe Goodman was 12th, South’s Abby Yekelchik (18th) and Merrimack’s Morgan Lazarro (32nd) had the best finishes for their schools. Simpson (1:16.96) had a strong fourth place finish in the Slalom course to lead all locals. Audra Robinson was 16th for South, Emily Wynne was 21st for North and Lazarro ended her Slalom run in 37th.
