Titan girls win second straight before rain returned

Monday eventually became another soggy April day on the high school sports calendar, but games that were played during the first part of the day – it’s school vacation week – made it all the way through. Here are the results:

GIRLS LACROSSE

NASHUA NORTH 17,

TIMBERLANE 14

Campbell Haller had an amazing nine goals and one assist as the Titans captured their second straight win after starting the season 0-5.

Other top scorers included Julia Gagnon (three goals, three assists), Hannah Fortin (three goals, assist), Kaylee Hubbard (two goals, assist) and Lily Brooks (assist). Samantha Canto had 10 saves in goal for the Titans.

Parker Bostch also had great transitional defense and attack while Theresa Ellison did a great job helping to direct the attack for North, which hosts Salem on Friday.

BOYS LACROSSE

BISHOP GUERTIN 23,

SALEM 4

The Cards improved to 5-1, leading 10-2 after the first quarter and never looked back. Ben Abladian (five goals), Sean Cameron (four plus two assists), Chris Kiely (three) were the top goal scorers while T.J. Quigley, Joey Lupo, and Chris Haley each adding two scores. Single tallies were by Nate Binette, Alexander Dunsmoor, Alex Koutsos (plus an assist) and Tristan Correia.

Other assists on the day went to Alex Ryan and Dawson Clark (two each) as well as Michael Kiely (one). James Heitmiller (two saves), Matt Burns (two) and Matt Peicker (one) had a fairly easy day in goal.

Guertin visits Souhegan today at 5 p.m.

TIMBERLANE 17,

NASHUA NORTH 3

The Titans’ rebuilding season continues at 1-3. North hosts Portsmouth on Wednesday.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

BISHOP GUERTIN 3,

LONDONDERRY 1

The Cardinals are off to a 4-1 start this season as they took the last two sets 25-13, 25-16 after splitting the first two 25-21, 22-25

Joe Noon had four aces, 11 kills and six blocks and nine digs to lead the way while Erik Wizboski (ace, six kills, one block, five digs), Victor Martinez (two aces, three kills, seven digs), D.J.Omogrosso (five kills, four blocks) and Chris Barillas (20 assists, seven digs) helped out.

WINDHAM 3,

SOUHEGAN 0

The Sabers suffered their fourth straight loss (1-4) at the hands of the unbeaten (5-0) Jaguars. Souhegan is off until April 30 at Salem.

Monday’s rainfall caused postponements galore. Souhegan baseball and softball were moved to Tuesday at Pembroke; Nashua North baseball vs. Merrimack was suspended and will be resumed in Merrimack today at 2 p.m.; Nashua South baseball vs. Pinkerton at Holman has been tentatively rescheduled for May 2; South-Pinkerton softball also was rained out, makeup tba; Bishop Guertin baseball and softball vs. Manchester Central were ppd to today at 4 p.m., Alvirne-Keene softball postponed with no makeup set yet.
