Titans come close to first win; HB volleyball stays unbeaten

Here’s a glance at Monday’s local high school results:

FIELD HOCKEY

Manchester Memorial 5,

Nashua North 3

The host Titans had set three scores as a goal, and hit it. The problem was, those were not enough as they fell to 0-7. Lauren Shaw had a pair of goals and Julia Gagnon had one. Titan netminder Kiley O’Brien kept her team in it with 18 saves. North visits Manchester Central on Wednesday.

Manchester Central 2,

Nashua South 0

Surviving a few Panther chances, the Little Green scored the the clincher with 3:21 left to hand South (1-5) its fifth straight defeat. Courtney Tello had 13 saves in net for South, which got good games from Emma Pucillo, Jenna Chiavelli, Abbey  Rowe, Sarah Picard and Josephine Coelho.

The Panthers travel to Merrimack on Wednesday.

Merrimack 1,

Keene 0

Hunter Webb scored the game’s only goal with 27:16 left in the first half as the Tomahawks moved to 5-1. Heather Rohr had four saves in the Merrimack goal.

GIRLS SOCCER

Concord 2,

Bishop Guertin 1

The Cardinals played well despite the fact the Crimson Tide remain unbeaten (5-0-1), outshooting Concord 15-4. Caitlyn Toom scored Guertin’s only goal while Kiera Porcellis also played well. Now 3-2, Guertin takes on Alvirne on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at Stellos Stadium.

Pinkerton 1,

Alvirne 0

In a game with few real scoring chances for either team, Pinkerton made its first half goal stand up. Defensively, Tori Gush and Sadie LaMothe played well played well for Alvirne. Bronco midfielders Abbey Dubois and Jane Ostberg also played hard for Alvirne, now 2-4 going into Wednesday’s game vs. BG at Stellos.

Milford 1,

Merrimack Valley 0

Syd Thibault scored the lone goal of the game halfway through the first half as the Spartans are now 5-1-1, snapping a two-game winless streak.

Katie Lorden had a solid game in net and Meghan Wood and Sophie Grill were strong defensively. Milford’s offense had even more chances with 15 shots on goal. The Spartans are right back at it today at Pelham.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Nashua North 3,

Manchester Central 0

The Titans enjoyed a 25-9, 25-15, 25-8 sweep to move to 4-2. Leading the way were: Sarah St. Pierre (three aces, six kills, three digs), Abby Coy (11 Aces, two kills, six digs), Atlanta Ho (three aces, three kills), Emerson Martin (15 assists, three kills), Haley Stanton five aces, six kills), Alexis Miranda (five kills) and Janessa Palmieri (seven digs).

North visits Pinkerton on Wednesday.

Hollis Brookline 3,

Dover 1

The Cavs lost their first set of the season but moved to 6-0 with scores of 25-18, 25-17, 22-25, 25-20 in handing the Green Wave its first loss (5-1).

Maddie Norris had 17 kills while Maren Anderson (seven kills, three blocks), Kyra Belden (36 assists), Ellie Jordan (18 digs) and Sammie Sheppard (16 digs) helped out.

HB now hosts Windham on Wednesday in a unique battle between last year’s Division I champs (the Cavs) and Division II (the Jags). Windham moved up to Division I in all sports this fall.

Merrimack 3,

Alvirne 0

The Tomahawks picked up their second win (2-5) with a 25-19, 25-14, 25-21 sweep. Joanne Bonner had 13 kills and eight digs while other key contributors included Anna Niezrecki (seven digs,three aces), Haley Smethurst (three aces), Anya Craver (four kills), Isabella Smith (16 assists, three aces).

Merrimack hosts Concord Wednesday while Alvirne (0-7) is at Salem.

Milford 3,

Somersworth 0

The visiting Spartans improved to 5-1 with set scores of 25-8, 25-16, 25-20.

Robyn Krafft (four aces, two kills), Julia Guarniere (an ace, three kills, six digs), Kailyn Chamberlin (four aces, two kills, four assists) and Emily Flaherty (14 assists) led the way. Milford is right back at it today at 5:15 p.m. at ConVal.

GOLF

North 199,

Alvirne 200

The Titans (4-7) won a tight tri match, also besting Winnacunnet (218) at Green Meadow.

North’s Bryce Zimmerman was the medalist with a 32, followed by Chris McQuinn (37), James Boulton (39), Tyler Jagentenfi (44) and Thomas Kelly (45).

The Broncos (6-7) were led by Brett McKinley (38), followed by Tyler Lizotte, Jackie Dowd and Mike Dowling (40 each) and Tony DeRosa (42)

UNIFIED SOCCER

Londonderry 4,

Nashua North 1

Matt Roscoe scored the only goal for the Titans.
