Nashua North’s LaPlante, Souhegan’s Peyton Kent honored
Marcel LaPlante of Nashua North and Peyton Kent of Souhegan, were awarded a $2,500 scholarship and announced as the NHIAA Student Athletes of the Year at an event sponsored by Apple Therapy and ESPN-NH radio.
LaPlante, a Telegraph All Star wrestler, will start his college career at the Naval Academy in the fall. Kent, the Telegraph’s Girls Soccer Player of the Year, will be at Bentley University in the fall.
Other local nominees for the honor included Savannah Werne of Hollis-Brookline, Ben Billings of Campbell, Drew Prescott of Souhegan, Mike Devereaux and Molly McCabe of Bishop Guertin.
Nashua South Trevor Knight received the ESPN-NH football MVP award, while Merrimack basketball player Eric Gendron too winter MVP honors.
