Kelly Ayotte is for Nashua

By Staff | Oct 31, 2016

As we approach Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 8, it is critically important that we look at who will best represent the people of New Hampshire, and especially the citizens of Nashua, when they take a seat in Washington.

For the U.S. Senate race, Kelly Ayotte is a lifelong resident of Nashua, a successful attorney, former New Hampshire Attorney General and has been representing New Hampshire and Nashua very well over the last six years. She is well respected on both sides of the aisle in Washington and has worked collaboratively with Democrats and Independents to bring positive legislation forward for the benefit of the residents of New Hampshire.

I have known Kelly for several years and have always known her to be outstanding representative of Nashua. She went through the Nashua school system and then on to college and law school. She is married to Joe, who is a veteran and a small business owner, and has two wonderful children. That is one of the reasons why Kelly is such a strong advocate for Nashua, veterans’ rights and benefits and a strong supporter of small businesses. Kelly has gone the extra mile to ensure our largest employers are well represented in Washington and works hard to bring jobs to the Granite State. This support is critical for New Hampshire and the people live and work here.

As a Nashua alderman from Ward Two and before that as a member and past president of the Board of Education, I have worked closely with Kelly on subjects that have benefited Nashua greatly. She has supported Nashua very well as a member of the Senate and we are proud of her contributions. As a senator she has won the respect of her colleges and has been appointed to the Armed Services Committee, Homeland Services Committee, Small Business Committee and the Budget Committee. These are very important, key positions in the Senate that position Kelly to have very strong influence on issues impacting both New Hampshire and most especially Nashua. Her strong leadership and legal background make her highly qualified to make decisions on these committees. Retaining these positions will benefit veterans, the elderly, small businesses, and large business here in New Hampshire. People’s jobs could well depend on Kelly retaining these key seats in Washington.

Don’t be swayed by the negative ads that have filled our TVs over the past several months. That is the lowest form of politics and is driven by special interest groups who could care less about what happens to you or all of us in New Hampshire. They are intentionally misleading and paid for by people only interested in winning the seat for the Democratic Party and not by anyone interested in the people of New Hampshire or most especially Nashua. We have a great senator who has fought hard for the people of New Hampshire while sacrificing time from her family and friends her in Nashua. Kelly works very closely with U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen who already represents the Democrats in New Hampshire. They have worked as a fantastic team and serve our State well ensuring a balance of opinions and collaboration where the results help New Hampshire’s hard working taxpayers. Let’s continue that balance in Washington so we have everyone represented when legislation comes forward that impacts your lives. I will proudly cast my vote for Sen. Kelly Ayotte on Nov. 8 and I ask you to please support Kelly’s re-election.

Richard Dowd is a lifelong resident of New Hampshire and is serving his third term as an alderman from Ward 2.
