Finding justice for slain Nashua man

By Staff | Oct 30, 2016

With the sentencing of Stephan Peno for his involvement in the murder of Benjamin Marcum III, the Marcum family would like to thank the numerous men and women of the Nashua Police Department for their relentless efforts on the night of March 12, 2015, and the following months.

Not only did they solve a brutal stranger-on-stranger homicide in a very short period of time, but the thoroughness of their investigation, along with the professional expertise by the New Hampshire Attorney General’s office prosecution team, secured a guilty plea from the first of the two perpetrators, Mr. Peno.

We also want to thank our victim advocate, who was instrumental in keeping the family informed from the very beginning and through the court process.

As a family, we are grateful that the Nashua Police Department and the attorney general’s office became Ben’s voice and found justice for him.

Violent crime touches everyone. It destroys families and communities. It is important that the residents of Nashua know that in this city, each and every victim of a violent crime will be treated equally, respectfully and with dignity. In this community, a victim is a victim no matter what, and the Nashua police and the attorney general’s office will be there for you – they will be your voice.

We all agree that Ben would have been thankful that the men and women of the Nashua Police Department and the attorney general’s office recognized his individual self-worth and fought for justice in his name.
