Column smacked of ignorance, arrogance

By Staff | Aug 18, 2014

Joe Konopka’s guest commentary on the Ferguson riots (“Why don’t we have police riots in New Hampshire,” Aug. 17) smacks of the ignorance and arrogance one would expect a white person living in lily-white New Hampshire to display when attempting to comment on matters of race.

As for his wondering why the righteous citizens of the Granite State haven’t rioted: If police in riot gear showed up at the Market Basket protests and cuffed and arrested shoppers as they taped Shaw’s receipts to the store windows, I fully expect Mr. Konopka would show up dressed as a minuteman, protesting the actions of the government. I guess complaints against the government are only valid if you are white.
