Bachman family grateful for support

By Staff | Jan 11, 2014

On Dec. 23, our family’s life was turned upside down when our father, husband and grandfather was senselessly killed by an inattentive driver. Due to a moment of carelessness, for the remainder of our years Christmas will only serve as a grim reminder of the loss of our beloved John.

As our family seeks desperately to find some level of normalcy, we wish to extend a very gracious thank you to the communities of Amherst, Milford and Mont Vernon – especially our many friends, neighbors and extended emergency response families – for all the kind words and support as we grieve.

In particular we want to thank the following: Chief Mark Reams and the rest of the Amherst Police Department, Chief Mark Boynton and the rest of the Amherst Fire Department for all of your assistance with providing John with a proper farewell – especially the honor guard and escort, Milford Fire Department Chaplain Gary Williams for altering your schedule at a moment’s notice, Nashua Telegraph reporter Dean Shalhoup and Managing Editor Jonathan Van Fleet for your above-and-beyond efforts providing us with a history of John’s columns, Gov. Maggie Hassen, Sen. Kelly Ayotte and N.H. GOP Chair Jennifer Horn for attending and showing our family just how far-reaching John’s spirit touched, Labelle Winery for accommodating our family and friends. Lastly, to everyone who attended John’s calling hours or celebration of life and shared a story, a fond memory or just provided a comforting shoulder.

We are forever thankful. Please know that you all hold a very special place in our hearts, for it is your strength we have relied upon to keep us going these past few weeks.

In time, we will adjust to a new normal without John, and as we do we will look back fondly on our memories and of all of you who were friends of John and were with us during this terrible period in our lives.
