Aldermen acted with pettiness

By Staff | Jan 8, 2014

To the 2014 Nashua Board of Aldermen: Please check your egos at the door. I watched the inauguration of the BOA on Sunday and was appalled at the pettiness of some of the new members with regard to committee assignments.

I am sure that board President David Deane put a great deal of thought into these assignments and, no, you may not get your first pick. But really, to throw such a temper tantrum? All the aldermen are elected to serve the citizens of Nashua and leave their own agendas outside the horseshoe. You should be embarrassed at your performance Sunday, leaving the voters to wonder if you are capable of making an unbiased decision for the city. You work for us, the voters. I don’t care what your sign reads. I don’t care if you think you are the smartest one of the group, and I really don’t care how far you sit from the restrooms.

I applaud the way President Deane turned a bad situation around on Sunday. Now, you have all year to make this a cohesive board capable of representing their wards and the entire city. I watch all the BOA meetings on TV, and I don’t want to see this pettiness carried inside the aldermanic chamber. I wish you the best of luck.
