City of Nashua should have prepared for drop in property values long ago

By Staff | Dec 4, 2013

In reference to Ward 6 Alderman Paul Chasse giving the Nashua Board of Aldermen and the Mayor Donnalee Lozeau an F on a fictional report card (The Telegraph, Dec. 1), that is simply not enough.

I work in the business of real estate every day and understand the re-evaluation process and feel pretty confident the mayor does, too. The “$4.3 million in unanticipated revenue” earmarked to go toward the Nashua folks by the mayor was a good use of that money, but the mayor and the Board of Aldermen should have been prepared and planned for the drop in property values and contained spending long ago.

There will be a new Board of Alderman in 2014 and I would personally like to see Alderman-at-Large David Deane as board president to hold the mayor accountable. He has the experience and tenacity. So, Mr. Chasse, I challenge you to vote for Alderman Deane as board president in an attempt on your part to turn that F into an A+.
