Put playground in Greeley Park

By Staff | Dec 2, 2013

We write in support of the Legacy Playground proposal for installation in Greeley Park. There will be public hearing of the Board of Public Works on Monday evening at City Hall and we hope to see many familiar faces at the meeting supporting this project.

In recent months, there have been many rumors about the playground: How big it will be? How much green space will disappear? How will all of the parking be accommodated? Will it be noisy? Is it only for handicapped children? How much will it cost? How will it detract from the spirit of Greeley?

The project, sponsored by the Nashua Chamber’s Leadership Greater Nashua program, an all-volunteer group, will be paid for in large part by private donations. There are many good reasons to support this project. The most important of all for us is that Greeley is everyone’s park. It should represent the best that Nashua can be, and that includes providing a safe, fun place for all of our children to play.

As residents of Ward 3, we feel that this is a long overdue improvement to our park and our community. We strongly support it, as we hope do many of our neighbors. Yes, we know that some fear the change that this project brings. We hope that reasonable minds will prevail.
