Lego championship coming to Nashua

By Staff | Nov 30, 2013

This Saturday, Dec. 7, Nashua will host the NH/VT First Lego League Championship at Nashua High School South. The event showcases the talents of New Hampshire and Vermont students ages 9-14 competing in robot design, teamwork and technology innovation. The focus of FLL is to solve a “real world” problem that affects people worldwide. This year’s topic, “Nature’s Fury,” focuses on the effects of extreme weather. Teams are judged in robot design and programming, a research project and teamwork. There is a “game” aspect of the tournament where students use a robot to solve missions on a large playing board, and have 2 1/2 minutes to score as many points on the field as possible.

The FLL program not only helps students utilize STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) programs to come together as a cohesive team, but involves creativity, teamwork, design, marketing, research, and, of course, plenty of fun. If you’ve ever wondered what FLL is all about, you can stop by Nashua High School South on Saturday and see what it has to offer.
