William J. “Bill” Toomey
William J. “Bill” Toomey, 70, died peacefully at his home on Sunday, December 29, 2024. He is the beloved husband of Judith “Judy” (Beaupre) Toomey with whom he shared 49 ½ years of marriage.
Bill was born in Dorchester, Massachusetts on October 5, 1954 and was the son of the late Richard F. and Mary E. (Graham) Toomey. He received his education in the Nashua School System and was a graduate of Nashua High School.
Beginning his career at Shakey’s Pizza Parlor, where he and Judy met, to 32 plus years employed as the City of Nashua Engineering Department Inspector.
In his free time, Bill truly enjoyed spending his time coaching and refereeing in baseball and basketball for the cities of Nashua and Manchester. He liked to be score keeper as well, maintaining “the books.” Bill will be remembered for being an avid scratch ticket enthusiast and a die-hard Red Sox Fan. Time spent with his grandchildren was always the most cherished memories created; from playing wiffle ball, swimming in his pool, or the fun and amusing “isms” he taught his grandsons. In his younger years, he was a member of a couple’s bowling league with his wife, Judy, “Nights Owl’s” Bowling League.
Bill was always the first person to offer a helping hand and through every winter storm he could be found snow blowing his neighbors’ driveways so thoroughly he eventually would just snow blow the entire street. His presence will be greatly missed by all who have had the opportunity to get to know him. As he would sign many of his cards to his family, “Puddles of Love” or more specifically to his wife Judy, “Oceans of Love.” Until we meet again, Bill.
In addition to his wife, Judy, he is survived by his three children, his favorite daughter and son-in law, Kelly Fein and her husband Jordan of Manchester, his favorite daughter and son-in-law Lynn Lavallee and her husband Jon of Manchester; and his son Brian W. Toomey and his wife Krista of Andover, MA; his ten grandchildren, Tyler, Noah, Devin, Max, Logan, Brody, Jack, Greyson, Drew and Savannah. He is also survived by his five siblings, Alice Stone and her husband Bob, Mary Toomey, Diane Holmes, Mike Toomey and his wife Dianne, and Betty Scoville and her husband Gene; his mother-in-law, Ruth Beaupre; as well as many sisters and brothers-in-law and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Rich Toomey and his father-in-law, Francis J. Beaupre.
