Charles R. ‘Charlie’ Santos

Charles R. “Charlie” Santos, 91, of Nashua, NH died on May 24, due to complications from Congestive Heart Failure.

He was born in New Bedford MA on June 29, 1929, son of the late Antone and Alice (Pacheco) Santos. He grew up in Wareham, MA.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He fought in the Korean War and the Vietnam War retiring as a Gunnery Sergeant with more than 20 years of service.

During his career, Charlie had been employed at Raytheon in Tewksbury, MA where he retired after 20 years of service.

He was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Nashua, NH where he married the love of his life Pauline Hammar-Bardsley in 1989. They shared many happy years together prior to her death in 2005.

Charlie was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. He enjoyed ballroom dancing, gardening, boat rides on Lake Winnipesaukee, trips to the ocean and vacations on the West Coast. Above all, Charlie cherished family gatherings and visits with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Family members include his sons, Charles R. Santos Jr. and Christopher Santos, three stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Paula and Dan Holden, Heidi and Ken Nielsen, Rebecca and Fred Dolloff. Grandchildren, Erin and her husband Sean Winters, Charles R. Santos III and his wife Carrie, Katie LaBrie and her husband Matthew, Olivia Bardsley, Jake Holden and his wife Audrey, James Holden and Samuel Nielsen. Great grandchildren, Ariana, Sienna and Brady Santos, Mia, and Elijah Winters, Juliette and Hendrick LaBrie. He is also survived by his brothers, Joseph Santos and Albert and Evelyn Santos and many nieces and nephews.

Charlie is predeceased by his first wife, Jackie Santos, his second wife Pauline Bardsley-Santos, his daughter, Sandra Santos, his son Robert Santos and his brothers Arthur “Bob” Santos and Richard Santos.
