Lionel C. Picard

NASHUA – Lionel C. Picard, 87, died peacefully Saturday, January 16, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He is the beloved husband of Rachel (Charest) Picard, the love of his life, with whom he shared 63 loving years of marriage.

Lionel was born in Nashua on May 27, 1933 and was the son of the late Joseph and Louise (Bibeau) Picard.

He proudly served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army until he was honorably discharged in March of 1955.

Prior to his retirement, Lionel was employed as a supervisor for Sanders/Lockhead for 42 and a half years. He then was employed at Bishop Guertin in the cafeteria where he made grilled cheese and pizza for several years. He was always a favorite among students.

In addition to his wife, Rachel, he is survived by his children, David Picard and his husband Paul Weeks of Arizona, Nanette Robinson and her husband Eric of New Hampshire, Marlene Picard of Florida; his daughter-in-law, Patrice Picard of New Jersey; his grandchildren, Nicole Robinson, Ericka and Kyle LaValley, Jeffrey Picard and his fiancé Patrick Heese, Ryan Robinson and his fiancé Bryanne Wilson and Jeremy Picard. He is also survived by his sister Claire Merrill; his brother Donald Picard and his wife Katherine ; as well as his sister-in-law, Brenda Charest, and his brother-in-law Roland Charest and his wife Susan Charest ; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Lionel was predeceased by his son, Denis Picard; his brother Maurice Picard; as well as his brother-in-law, Albert Charest.

His family would like to extend a special thank you to the Home, Health, and Hospice staff for their care, comfort, and compassion during Lionel’s time of need.

Due to COVID, a service will be held privately. When it is safe to do so, his family will be having a celebration of life service for Lionel for all who knew him.
