Ellen M. (Donahue) Skuse

Ellen M. (Donahue) Skuse, 78, of Nashua, NH, passed away peacefully at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack on December 28, 2020, after a period of declining health. Ellen was born in Cambridge, MA, on October 15, 1942, daughter of the late Robert D. Donahue, Sr. and Mary (Ryan) Donahue. She was the wife of the late George W. Skuse, Sr., with whom she enjoyed 41 years of marriage prior to his death in 2005.

Ellen was a 1960 graduate of St. Clement High School, Somerville, MA. After meeting George while working together at Bailey’s of Boston, they were married in 1963 and settled in Watertown, MA. In 1973, Ellen and George moved their young family to New Hampshire. Ellen was a loving and devoted wife, mother, Nana and Nana -Nana. She was a great listener, enjoyed travel with her husband, and had many happy times with family at Hampton Beach and the Maine seacoast. She previously worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital in the business office and later helped run two family businesses.

Ellen is survived by her children George W. Skuse, Jr. and his wife Mary, Pamela J. Boilard and her husband Alan, William R. Skuse and Noreen Verrington, and Kenneth J. Skuse, who was her dedicated and loving primary caretaker ; grandchildren including Sean Skuse and his wife Mollie, Kelsey and Kate Boilard, Kelsey and Ben Finocchiaro, Cassie and Franky Verrington; and great- grandsons Nate and Robbie Skuse.

She is also survived by her siblings, Noreen D. Buckley of Hampton Beach, NH, Robert D. Donahue, Jr. and his wife Charleen of Arlington, MA, Michael F. Donahue and his wife Maureen of Woburn, MA, Thomas C. Donahue and his wife Nancy of Somerville, MA, and Patricia A. Marques of Woburn, MA; sister-in-law Patricia H. Lynch and her wife Rachel Negris of Westford, MA., and many nieces and nephews.

Ellen was pre-deceased by three brothers-in-law; John F. Marques, John P. Skuse and Donald B. Buckley.

Ellen’s family would like to extend sincere gratitude to the Home Health & Hospice Care team that provided excellent care and support during this difficult time. The family is also greatful for a special Visiting Angel’s caretaker that helped keep the family up and running amidst many daily challenges.

Arrangements are in the care of Rivet Funeral Home & Crematorium in Merrimack. A burial service and celebration of life will be held in the spring of 2021.
