Karen (Lavoie) Miller

On December 25, 2020, the world lost a beautiful Angel. Karen (Lavoie) Miller, 65, passed away peacefully, with her family and childhood best friend by her side. Karen was preceded in death by her parents Albert “Sonny” Lavoie and Pauline (Brousseau) Lavoie, her two sisters Paula Lavoie and Michelle (Lavoie) Marchand, her nephew Aaron Lyden and her beloved Uncle Paul Brousseau of Nashua, NH. Karen was loved and adored by so many. She always put the needs of others before herself. She was selfless, caring, loving and devoted to her family.

Karen leaves behind her husband, David Miller, of Goffstown, NH. David and Karen were high school sweethearts, in love for 50 years. Karen also leaves behind her brother Michael Lavoie and his wife Emy Lavoie of Nashua, NH, her daughters and their spouses or significant others; Laura (Miller) Kolifrath and her husband Chad Kolifrath of Cape Coral, FL, Kristen Miller and her significant other Scott Tucker of Methuen, MA and Julie (Miller) Grawey and her significant other Matthew Kulesz of Goffstown, NH. She also leaves four grandsons that were the light of her world; Cody and Nathan Kolifrath, Eddie Virella and Jake Grawey. These four boys believed the sun rose and set in their Mimi’s eyes and loved her unconditionally, just as she loved them unconditionally.

Karen also leaves behind several cousin’s, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and her very close friends which were her “chosen family”. Karen leaves behind one special, chosen family member, Debbie Patterson. Debbie and Karen had been best friends for the past 50 years, travel companions, soul sisters and shared a true and rare friendship hard to come by. One would be so lucky to experience a friendship and bond as strong and beautiful as theirs.

Karen was a dedicated mother and wife. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She loved being married to her one and only love, David, and knew how rare and special their love was, as did he. As time went on, her daughters grew and gave her four grandsons. She naturally and happily accepted her new and adoring role as Mimi. This title is one she was absolutely most proud of. Karen had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh and smile. Her personality and talent made her very successful in her work as a hairdresser for over 30 years. During this time, she brought many smiles to her client’s faces, as she made them laugh in her chair and chatted away about whatever her clients wanted. She had a very special way of speaking to people’s hearts and souls, and brought love and healing to all those she spoke with.

Besides being the proud Matriarch of the Miller Family, a doting wife, mother and Mimi, Karen spent many years actively involved with her children’s sports teams and events. She was a reliable scorekeeper for her daughter’s basketball and softball teams. She took great pride in being a cheerleading coach for the Infant Jesus Saints and the Elks Crusaders, and also the work she did within the Nashua CYO organization. She held the title of head cheerleading coach for many years, was an active leader, treasurer and voice in the Nashua CYO league as well. She developed many friendships and brought love and positivity to a lot of lives during her reign as a coach and treasurer. Many young girls adored Karen as she taught them about cheerleading and life. She was their coach, but also their friend and someone her cheerleaders and their parents trusted and loved.

Karen touched the lives of many, and left footprints on their hearts. There are no words good enough to describe Karen and how much of a positive impact she made on everyone she encountered. She will forever be remembered as a loving wife, her daughter’s best friend, an amazing coach, a supportive friend and the world’s greatest Mimi to four boys that lost her too soon. The loss of this beautiful woman and courageous soul, will be felt deeply forever; but her family is grateful for the legacy she has left behind and all the wonderful memories they had made with her. These memories will be held dear, cherished and remembered forever.

Services for Karen are going to be small and private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Karen’s memory to the Nashua Humane Society, 24 Ferry Road, Nashua, NH 03064. Karen had a special place in her heart for the Humane Society and the love and care that they provide for animals.
