Sally Sims

Dec 17, 2020

Sally Sims, 77, of Dumfries, Virginia passed away on December 11, 2020 at her home. Her daughter Tracy was by her side.

Born on March 15, 1943 in Nashua, NH, she was the daughter of Henry J. Plouf Jr. and Judith Griffin (Crowell) Plouf. She was raised on Century Farm in Litchfield, NH in a wonderful, old fashioned extended family homestead, including her great grandmother Corabell Baker Griffin, her beloved grandmother, Bertha Griffin Crowell, her parents and her elder sister Gail.

Sally was educated at the two room Litchfield Grammar School, later renamed Griffin Memorial School in memory of her great grandmother, Clarissa White Griffin and other Griffin Heirs. She was also graduated from Alvirne High School in Hudson, NH. She worked at BAE Systems for several years, meeting Richard Sims whom she married in 1965. They established a home in Litchfield, raising their daughters, Kelly and Tracy, and living happily alongside Gail and her family.

Besides her parents and her former husband, Richard, Sally was predeceased by her daughter Kelly.

She is survived by her daughter Tracy, her grandchildren Zachary Sims, Olivia Sims and Brandon Sims. She is also survived by her sister Gail Barringer, her uncle, Walter Crowell, her cousins Peter Hendrick and his wife, Cindy, Connie Hendrick Post and Sandra Hendrick Adler and her husband Bill, Andy Crowell and his wife Beth, James Crowell and his wife Dana, Win Belanger and his wife Polly and Tina Smith and her husband Tom, and Johnny and Bobby Plouf.

Over the years, Sally and Gail shared many memories, of growing up on a “real” farm, of riding horseback, caring for the horses and other animals, and the chores that led to a strong work/life ethic. Sally will be deeply missed by Tracy, Gail, her cousins and life-long friends, Judy Boudreau and Marilyn Rodonis, both of Litchfield.

Services: A memorial service will be held at a later date in the Summer of 2021. If one so wishes, donations in Sally’s name may be made to the Church of Sally’s childhood and youth, The Litchfield Presbyterian Church, 259 Charles Bancroft Highway, Litchfield, NH 03052.
