Donald Vincent Hurt

Donald Vincent Hurt passed away at home on November 30, 2020 after a lengthy period of decline. He was born on 12-27-1931 in New York City to Gladys and Vincent Hurt. He served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1955 including time stationed on the Pine Tree Line in Armstrong Ontario Canada. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Fitchburg State College and retired from Raytheon Service Company in 1992.

He is survived by his wife Denise, son Donald Hurt Jr, his wife Susan and their children Laura Hartoin, Megan Hurt, and Kyle Hurt; his daughter Linda Yuele and her husband Dennis; his son Devon Hurt; his sister Jeanne Pietrow and her husband Charles. He will also be greatly missed by his extended family of nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws and friends.

He was a man of many interests and at various times in his life he had a trap line in Canada, skied Tuckerman’s Ravine, was a scuba diver, was a ham radio operator, developed film in a home dark room, was a race car driver, played 12 string guitar with Jerry Jean and his Blue Grass Buddies, was an Eagle Scout, enjoyed tractor shows and sailing, was a Civil War buff giving talks at schools, collected Civil War carbines, was a member of the Hollis/Brookline VFW, and enjoyed tinkering in the garage.

Burial will be at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH. Due to Covid-19 concerns the service will be for immediate family only. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to VFW Post 11373, P O Box 1012, Hollis, NH 03049. The Cremation Society of New Hampshire is assisting the family with arrangements.
