Elizabeth A. (McCarthy) Belanger

Elizabeth A. (McCarthy) Belanger, age 67, passed away on October 7, 2020, at Brigham and Women’s hospital in Boston MA. To anyone who knew her, she was better known as Penny. She was born in Lowell MA. on March 25, 1953, to Robert and Helen (Thibault) McCarthy. The oldest of three, she spent her childhood helping raise her younger brother and sister Robert and Patricia in the family home. She often spoke fondly of growing up in Chelmsford, MA and Centerville with her family and their dog Tammy.

She married her husband Edward J. Belanger on February 17,1984, on the rocks of Rye Beach, NH. Their marriage brought her first and foremost loves, Steven and Marina, her children. She devoted her life to raising and caring for them. That devotion continued on when her grandson Mirin was born. She spoke to them of love, family, and politics. She encouraged them to be open minded and free thinking.

She was an avid reader and would spend much of her time sitting with a good book.

She loved the performing arts, especially dance. In her late teens and twenties she attended classes, performed, and enjoyed many forms of dance. Ballet being her favorite. Later when her daughter, Marina, took dance classes, she was very involved. She would help coach and appeared on stage as a part of the troop. She never missed one season of Dancing with the Stars and enjoyed watching any dance program.

She ran the family home doing everything from balancing the checkbook to overseeing the recuperation of broken bones and hearts.

She is survived by her husband of thirty six years Ed, their two children Steven and Marina, as well as her grandson Mirin, all living in Hudson, NH. Also survived by her brother and sister in-law Robert and Mary Gail McCarthy of Cape Cod MA and her sister and brother in-law Patricia and Joseph Cerretti of Seabrook NH, as well as many nieces and nephews, family and friends. She is loved and dearly missed by everyone she touched.

In light of the current social health issues the family will be having a small private gathering to celebrate her life. Memorial denotations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
