Simone R. Belair

Simone R. Belair, 83, of Nashua, wife of Arthur G. Belair, passed away at her home, Saturday morning, July 25, 2020, surrounded by her loving family, after a period of declining health.

A Nashua native, Mrs. Belair was born on July 22, 1937, a daughter of the late Astride and Odile Celine (Rivard) Petrain. Simone was educated in Nashua schools and had been employed with Sportwelt Shoes, Sanders Associates and Kollsman Instruments until she retired.

In her leisure time, Simone enjoyed knitting, reading, solving puzzles and playing bingo. She especially loved get together’s with her family. Simone was a former member of the Columbiettes of the Knights of Columbus and was active with the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary.

A resident of Nashua for many years, Simone and her husband also made their home in Hollis for many years before moving back to Nashua to reside with their daughter and son-in-law, Rolande and Wayne Auger.

Members of her family include her husband Arthur, whom she married on August 8, 1959 and shared 61 wonderful years together; her four children and their spouses, Rolande and Wayne Auger, Normand and Lisa Belair, Lucille and Jeff Kowalik, and Roger and Jane Belair; seven grandchildren, Matthew Adams, Kaitlyn McMeniman, Erika Belair, Jacob Worrell, Corey Belair, Kyrie and Chelsea Kowalik; four great-grandchildren, Jeremy Adams, Leo and Roman Worrell, and Sean Patrick McMeniman, III; two sisters, Estelle Boucher and Yvonne Lamy, three brothers, Ovila Petrain, Richard Petrain and Gerard Petrain; also many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, Simone was predeceased by four brothers, Roger, Donald, Albert and Sylvio Petrain; and four sisters, Clarice Landry, Pauline Lefavor, Constance Michaud Sykes and Dorothy Parent.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Home Health & Hospice for their care and support of Simone.

There are no calling hours. A graveside service will take place in St. Louis Cemetery, 752 West Hollis Street, Nashua, Friday, July 31st at 10 a.m. Family and friends are invited to attend. Donations may be made in her memory to Home Health & Hospice, 7 Executive Park Drive, Merrimack, NH 03054.
