Raymond O. Bissonnette

Raymond O. Bissonnette passed away peacefully on July 2, 2020. Raymond was married for over 60 years to his beloved wife Patricia J. (Raby) Bissonnette.

Born in Nashua, on July 16th, 1926; he was the son of the late Oscar P. Bissonnette and Emma B. (Messier) Bissonnette.

Raymond was educated in the Nashua School systems and was graduated from St. Anselm’s College with a BA degree. He earned his master’s degree from Rivier College.

Raymond entered the US Navy in 1944. During WWII, he served as a yeoman on the minesweeper YMS404, where he earned his WWII Victory Medal, American Theatre Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Medal.

Raymond was a science teacher in the Nashua school system for over 40 years teaching both junior and senior high school students. Raymond was the recipient of the teacher of the year award and several National Science Foundation grants.

Ray enjoyed gardening, relaxing at the beach, climbing mountains and traveling around the world with his wife and friends.

Ray is survived by his daughter Beth Bissonnette and fiancée Stuart Bronson; and sons Marc Bissonnette and Bill Bissonnette. His brothers-in-law; Dr. Joseph Bouchard and Edward Raby as well several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ray was blessed with 6 grandchildren: Sarah Bissonnette, Cory Bissonnette, Cayla Bissonnette, Megan Bissonnette, Kilian Bronson and the late Nicholas Bissonnette and 1 great-grandchild Gia Rose Bissonnette.

Raymond is predeceased by his brothers Paul and Ernest Bissonnette and his sister Claire (Bissonnette) Bouchard.

Visitation was omitted. Relatives and friends are invited to Ray’s short graveside service and presentation of military honors at St. Louis Cemetery, 752 W Hollis Street, Nashua on SATURDAY, July 11th at 11 AM.
