Irene K. Sawyer

Irene K. Sawyer, 97, longtime resident of Milford, NH, died on May 10, 2020 in Bedford, NH.

She was born in New Britain, Connecticut on September 24, 1922, a daughter of Arthur and Anna (Kraus) Kramer. She was raised and educated in Newington, CT and worked in Fafnir’s in New Britain, CT.

She moved to Hollis in 1946, later moving to Milford where she made her home for over 45 years.

She had been employed as a seamstress for JALB dress making shop in Nashua, NH. In addition, she also worked part time for many years at Taskers in Brookline, NH.

Irene enjoyed sewing, knitting, gardening, trips to Las Vegas and wintering in Florida for many years.

She was pre-deceased by her husband, Donald Sawyer, who died in 2019; and her grandson, Jason Hilton.

Family members include her daughters, Patricia Gay of Milford, NH, Gail Sprague of Merrimack, NH and Nancy O’Neill of Portsmouth, NH; five grandchildren and their spouses, Rick and Betsy Gay of Manchester, NH, Scooter and Kelly Gay of Raleigh, NC, Brian and Tanya Gay of Merrimack, NH, Kimberly and Bill Sherman of Merrimack, NH, John Hilton of Weare, NH and Joseph O’Neill of Portsmouth, NH; and ten great grandchildren.
