Eleanor M. Coneys

Eleanor M. (Kenney) Coneys, 97, of Reading, MA and formerly of Nashua, NH, passed away peacefully at her home at The Residence at Pearl Street, Wednesday afternoon, April 29, 2020. She happily joins her husband Frank in Eternal Life after a long life, building a beloved family and many happy memories. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

Mrs. Coneys was born in Brockton, Massachusetts on December 17, 1922, middle daughter of the late John and Emma (McManus) Kenney. She grew up in Dorchester, MA raised by her mother and uncle, Roger McManus. She graduated St. Gregory’s High School in1940 followed by Boston Clerical School.

She married the love of her life Francis Coneys in 1951 and began raising a family in Weymouth, MA. Moving to Nashua in 1962, in addition to raising their family, Eleanor worked for the Head Start Kindergarten Program; Nashua School Department; and later at Environmental Health at the Nashua Health Department.

Throughout her life, she was an active communicant of St. Christopher Parish and later St. Joseph The Worker Parish in Nashua. She and Frank travelled to Ireland many times, spending their trips visiting family (Ann and Martin Connolly), tracing his ancestry and (her favorite) shopping.

Eleanor and Frank shared 43 years together until his passing on September 16, 1994. She was predeceased by a beloved grandson, Matthew Hillier; and a sister, Madeline Mahoney.

Members of her family include her children and their partners; Kathleen (Don) Guertin, Richard (Mia) Coneys, Maureen (Bob Monzione) Hillier, Geraldine (Yvon) Rousseau and Charlene Coneys; grandchildren Erin (John) Riccio, Stephanie (Victor) Brunini, Gregory Hillier, Peter (Dana) Guertin, Joseph Coneys, David (Kelly) Coneys and Robert Coneys; great-grandchildren Cameron and Jack Riccio, Abigail Guertin and Eleanor Coneys; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law Thomas and Shirley Coneys, Cecelia Coneys and Bridget Coneys; and many nieces and nephews.

She leaves her dear friends in Nashua, Maureen and Frank Stoddard and the DuPonts; Vail Bartholet from Melrose and from Pearl Street, Jean Quinzio (Karen, Laurie, Kathy) and Kay O’Loughlin (Diane). The family would also like to recognize the kind staff of Residence at Pearl Street, especially Catherine, Romancee, Esther, Michael, Edna and Beverly.

Services will be held at a later date. Mrs. Coneys will be laid to rest next to her husband Frank at Edgewood Cemetery in Nashua. Donations may be made in her memory to nokidhungry.org/donate (877) 780-5660.
