Luis A. Sosa

BEDFORD – Luis A. Sosa, 74, died peacefully on Monday, March 30, 2020 at Ridgewood Center in Bedford. He is the beloved husband of Dawne (Duckworth) Sosa with whom he shared 54 years of marriage they celebrated on March 19th.

Luis was born in Barceloneta, Puerto Rico on October 5, 1945 and was the son of the late Miguelina Escobar. He was the youngest of 13 siblings. He attended River College where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Foreign Language as well as Education. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy until he was honorably discharged in 1970.

In his early years, he was employed as an air traffic controller, but most recently was employed as a dispatcher for Burlington Northern Santa Fe and he was also working as a substitute teacher.

In his free time, Luis had a passion for motorcycles and driving fast cars, especially his Corvettes. He was truly a handyman, always taking the initiative to fix what was broken or what he could improve upon. Above all, his truly cherished time was spent with his loving family.

In addition to his wife, Dawne, Luis is survived by his three children, Luis A. Sosa Jr. and his wife Ruth Scotch of Natick, MA, Christopher Sosa of Greeley, Colorado and Wendy Sosa of Greeley, Colorado; his three grandchildren, Aleta Sosa of Natick, MA, Brandon Sosa and his wife Danielle and Jared Sosa both of Nashua. He is also survived by his brother, Jose Cardona of Connecticut; his sisters, Adela Cruz of North Carolina and Andrea Arroyo of Puerto Rico; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Due to current public health and safety concerns, funeral services for Luis will be limited to immediate family members and held privately.
