Mar 28, 2020

On Monday 3/23/2020, loving husband, and father of six, Richard C. Anthony (Dick) passed away in his home in Hollis, NH at the age of 84.

Dick was born on December 27, 1935 in Salem MA to Ralph W. and Ruth A. Anthony. He was their only child. He graduated from Salem High School and attended classes at Northeastern University before enlisting in the Army Reserves.

Dick had an entrepreneurial spirit from an early age. He owned a camera shop with his father where they sold camera equipment and processed pictures. He operated an oil company. He worked for 30 years as an Electrical Engineer where he services large equipment like ski lifts or a printing press. After beating throat cancer, he reinvented himself as a computer programmer. He dedicated many years of his life to working with the American Cancer Society and won many awards for the work he did to raise awareness about the dangers of smoking cigarettes. He spoke at schools and was featured in commercials that have been shown nationwide. Although he technically retired in 2005, he continued to work to this day for Baystate Flowers in Wilmington, MA

Dick married the love of his life, Lorna J. (Chard) Anthony on October 19, 1963. Over their 56 years of marriage, they raised six children.

Dick has many interests, all of which involved spending time with his family. Most days you would find him out on the ocean fishing, behind the lens of the newest camera or video camera, taking us for rides through the mountains on his motorcycle, or camping. He was a HAM Radio enthusiast as well as a member of the Free Masons. He was known for both his huge heart, and his huge smile.

Dick is survived by his wife Lorna; his six children and their spouses – Linda Thibodeau, April and Kevin McManus, Richard Anthony, Jr., David and Bethany Anthony, Lisa and Daniel Smith and Susan and Tony D’Alessandro; as well as 10 adored grandchildren, and one great-grandson.
