Janet L. Porter

Janet L. Porter, 79, lifelong resident of Milford, died on November 18, 2019 at her home.

She was born in Nashua, NH on March 31, 1940, a daughter of Arthur and Helen (Bennett) Lemay. She attended Milford High School.

Janet had been employed in the retail industry for many years and was a manager at Jordan Marsh, Bedford, NH for 20 years. She had also been the office manager for Arthur Commolli, DDS, in Nashua, and following her retirement, she went to work for Woodman’s Florist in Milford.

A meticulous housekeeper, Janet loved her home and working in her flower gardens.

She was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church, Milford.

Janet was predeceased by her husband, Robert P. Porter, who died in 2011; a daughter, Patricia Signor Turner, who died in 2006; and a brother, Eugene A. “Doodie” Lemay.

Family members include her daughter, Cindy Signor Labrie of Peterborough, NH; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey A. and Paula K. Signor of Clinton, MA; a stepdaughter, Kelley Porter Pease and her husband Todd of Westfield, MA; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Aaron and Alyssum Russell of Greenfield, NH, Brianna and Gregory Ellis of Temple, NH, Evan M. Chacos of Milford, NH, Daniel J. Labrie of Peterborough, NH, Jillian F. Labrie of Smethport, PA, Nicholas P. and Maureen Signor of Baltimore, MD, Kaitlin Signor of Washington, DC, Eric and Sara Turner of Somersworth, NH; six great grandchildren, Lydia and Miles Russell, Natalie and Jackson Ellis, Lenore Chacos and Madeleine Claire Signor; a sister, Joan Crocker of Milford, NH; several nieces and nephews.

Memorial visiting hours are on Friday, November 22nd from 5:00-7:00 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday at 10:00 am in St. Patrick’s Church, 34 Amherst Street, Milford. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Milford.
