Richard S. Seymour

May 21, 2019

Richard S. Seymour, Our father, grandfather, and great-grandfather Richard (Dick) Seymour, 89, a long-time resident of Hudson, NH, passed away in Hollis, NH on May 9, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.

Richard was born on July 31st 1929 in Nashua NH.  He married the love of his life Annette Ouellette on March 1st 1952 while he was proudly serving in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. The couple was married for 64 1/2 joyous years.  Dad was a devoted hunter and fisherman and enjoyed camping at his favorite second home ‘Deer Camp’ in Windsor NH. Dad owned many pet animals over the years, was an avid vegetable gardener, bowler in his younger years, a voracious reader, and a cribbage champion. He was a passionate Red Sox and New England Patriots fan & rarely missed a game on TV. His sense of humor was infectious & he genuinely enjoyed the company of others with a cold Schlitz.

Dick & Annette enjoyed vacationing in Florida, and they celebrated their 50th anniversary in Hawaii in 2002.  Dick was a top salesman at MacMulkin Chevrolet in Nashua NH for many years until his retirement in 1983. Previous to that he was a salesman at WOTW Radio. He was past Post Commander of Nashua’s American Legion Coffey Post #3, as was his father Nelson before him. He also managed the Post #3 bar for a number of years after his ‘retirement’ to keep busy. He was a graduate of Nashua High School class of 1947.

Dick was the son of the late Nelson & Gertrude Seymour of Nashua and he was predeceased by 2 siblings, his fellow Navy brother Raymond W. Seymour, who he spoke fondly about often, and who was lost in action in the Philippines in WWII aboard the USS Cooper, and his beloved sister Ruth Hogan of Nashua.

He is survived by five children, Richard S. Seymour Jr. and his wife Lenore of Bellaire Beach, FL, Randy Seymour and his wife Meg of Londonderry, NH, Sue Seymour and her husband David Allaby of Hollis, NH, Steven Seymour and his wife Mary of Hudson, NH, and Diane Conway and her husband Guy of Merrimack, NH, six grandchildren including Kevin Seymour and his wife Daisy of Winchester, NH, Laurel Allaby and Jeremy Hutchinson of Hollis, NH, Trevor Conway of Hollis, NH, Keith Seymour of Manchester NH,  Brooke Allaby of Hollis, NH, and Bradley Conway of Manchester, NH, and one great-granddaughter, Lorelei Hutchinson of Hollis, NH.  He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Many thanks to Sue Seymour and her family for providing a beautiful and peaceful home during his last few months. The family would also like to extend their appreciation and gratitude for the fine care he received from the staff at Home Health & Hospice Care.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Good Days Foundation. www.mygooddays.org
