Joseph ‘Joey’ R. Janelle

Joseph “Joey” R. Janelle, 64, died Thursday, February 14, 2019, in Key West, Florida.

He was born on September 8, 1954 in Nashua, NH, son of the late Louis M. and Therese A. Janelle.

He worked the past 20 years as a maintenance man for a motel in Key West.

Joey was one of a kind and lived his life exactly the way he wanted it. Nantucket commercial fisherman and scalloper, expert in all the building trades, Key West sports fisherman, boating enthusiast, loved and watched all sports, and a dedicated fan of the Weather Channel. He was always willing to have a good time with his vast circle of family and friends. He was perfectly suited for living in Key West, with its unique mix of talented people, oddball characters, and live and let live attitude. It was his home for over 30 years. He loved all of us dearly and we loved him. God bless you Joey.

Joey is survived by one son, Jay Janelle (Taphi) of Bristol, NH; two brothers, Lou Janelle (Bonnie), Jean Janelle (Cindy), seven sisters: Fran Carey (Ernie), Pat Donovon (Richard), Marie Barnes, Noella Peters (Gary), Alice Williams (Travis), Louise Murray (Dennis) and Bernie Janelle (Cindy Hearing). He is also survived by 19 nephews and nieces, several cousins and many friends.

SERVICES: Joey was cremated in Key Largo, FL. A celebration of his life will be held at the residence of Pat, Richard, Teddy and Sarah Donovon, 18 Springvale Dr., Hollis, NH on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at 1:00 pm. Family and friends are invited to attend. Private funeral services will be held at his parent’s lot at St. Louis Cemetery, Nashua, NH on Monday, May 20, 2019.
