Roland A. Marchand

Nov 3, 2018

Roland A. Marchand, 87, of Manchester, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Manchester on May 29, 1931, he is the son of the late Alfred Marchand and Yvonne Adelaide Simoneau. The youngest of five siblings, Cecile, Lucille, Julien and Arthur.

Roland leaves behind his devoted wife of 59 years, Rita; their children, Michael and his wife, Michele, grandchildren, Mitchell, Myles, Max, and Mia of Bedford; daughter, Ann-Marie, grandchildren, Tricia and Trena Metzger of Nashua, Brandon Naylor and Dylan Bishop. He was predeceased by his loving son, Paul Marchand.

Roland served in the National Guard from 1948 to 1957. He was a graduate of St. Anthony High School, NH Technical Institute and Lowell Technical Institute.

Often referred to as a “tech guy”, Roland had a long life serving in the technical field working at Dwyer Engineering, EG&G and a 24 year career working for GCA Corporation.

Roland had a passion for Genealogy. He was a member of the American Canadian Genealogical Society and traced his family tree back to the 1500’s while helping dozens of families to uncover their roots as well. He was an avid Patriots and Celtics enthusiast who never missed a game, even in his final hours.

Most importantly, Roland, fondly known as “Role”, was the kindest, most caring man that a family could have hoped for. He and his wife, Rita, helped to raise multiple generations in one home. Giving two generations the gift and love of having them close by.
