Adrien A. Labrie, Sr.

Adrien A. Labrie, Sr., 85, of Nashua passed away peacefully Wednesday July 28, 2010, at his home surrounded by his family.

Adrien was born in Manchester on October 28, 1924, a son of the late Joseph & Anna (Bilodeau) Labrie. He was the husband of Theresa (Nantel) Labrie of Nashua.

Adrien attended local schools as well as St. Francis College in Biddeford, ME. He served in the US Army Corps of Engineers in the Pacific Theatre during WWII.

In 1947, he married his childhood sweetheart, Theresa Nantel, sharing 63 years of marriage.

Adrien started his career as a general contractor, building many churches, schools and commercial and industrial buildings. In the mid 1960’s, he introduced the first indoor ice skating rink to the city of Nashua.

For over 40 years, he enjoyed summers on Lake Winnipesauke in Moultonborough. He also loved vacationing on the island of Bonaire with his family and friends. Adrien held various offices in the Catholic War Veterans Post 1700. He was a lifelong member of the Nashua Lodge of Elks #720. In 1963 he was a benefactor to Bishop Guertin High School. He was also a member of the Serra Club which promoted vocations.

He was an avid fisherman and hunter and he enjoyed playing hockey. He had sponsored the first girls’ hockey team, the Leaflets, in Nashua, which went on to win many championships.

Adrien was a communicant of Blessed John XXIII at Infant Jesus Church. He was predeceased by a brother, Philippe Labrie, a sister, Alma Bousquet, a son-in-law, James Johnston and a grandson, Adam Winn.

Besides his wife, Adrien is survived by eleven daughters, Jacqueline Buchan and her husband Walter of Lyndeboro, Gisele Forcier and her husband Donald of Hernando, Fl, Denise Desrosiers and her husband David of Hollis, Gloria Winn and her companion Thaddeus Frazier of Deerfield, Celeste Schmitt and her husband Robert of Nottingham, Lydia Belanger and her husband Robert of Nashua, Anna Nickles and her husband Mark of Hudson, Patricia Labrie of Nashua, Marie Theresa Leonard and her husband Joseph of Litchfield, Angela Bush and her husband Jeffrey of Stoddard and Laura Labrie Soule of Litchfield; two sons, Adrien Labrie Jr. and his wife Dorothea of Moultonborough and Norman Labrie and his wife Susan of Mt. Pleasant, SC; 33 grandchildren, Todd Ellis, Chad Ellis, Brian Labrie, Christina Ames, Amanda Labrie, Katelyn Labrie, Melissa Dishong, Darren Forcier, Cerissa Desrosiers, David Desrosiers Jr., Jeffrey Desrosiers, Jared Winn, Kellie Marchese, Timothy Schmitt, Benjamin Belanger, Bridgitt Belanger, William Flynn, Erin Flynn, John Britton, Sarah Britton, Joseph Britton, Hannah Britton, Adrianna Leonard, James Leonard, Ian Bush, Alexander Bush, Christopher Bush, Matthew Bush, Jakob Soule, Bria Soule and Kate Soule; 11 great-grandchildren, Noah Ellis, Elizah Ellis, Abigail Ellis, Hannah Ellis, Jack Ames, Alana Ames, Cody Johnson, Lucas Johnson, Madison Forcier, Brayden Forcier and Curtis Winn; one sister, Bernadette Dumas and her husband Lawrence of Nashua; also several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Adrien was a truly beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his many family and friends.

SERVICES: There will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday August 3, 2010 in Blessed John XXIII at Infant Jesus Church, 121 Allds St., Nashua at 10:00 AM. Burial will take place in the NH Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Souhegan Home Health & Hospice, 24 N.
