St. Albans breaks ground on year-round city pool

By The Associated Press - | Aug 2, 2021

ST. ALBANS, Vt. (AP) — The city of St. Albans has broken ground on a new year-round community pool that’s expected to be completed in May of next year.

The $5 million project includes a dome that will keep the pool covered and heated during winter and will be taken down during the summer, WPTZ-TV reported.

“We just want to make St. Albans a community of distinction, and having a year-round pool is part of that effort,” said City Manager Dominic Cloud.

St. Albans camp counselors say they’re looking forward to how it will improve their summer campers’ daily routine and give kids an opportunity to swim in the winter.

Mayor Tim Smith said the project will help set St. Albans apart from other communities, the news station reported.

“We have this pool, the ski slope, the great lodge, open fields, 250-acres of wooded areas and trails,” he said.
