MANCHESTER – Manchester Police, fire and AMR ambulances have responded to multiple calls Monday morning where the person was found to be deceased at the scene.

A call at about 5:45 a.m. to the stairwell of the Victory Parking Garage in Vine Street for an unresponsive person. Fire and EMS cleared the scene and turned the scene over to the police.

Manchester Police Spokesperson Heather Hamel confirmed to Manchester Information that the death in the parking garage does not appear to be suspicious. The body of an adult male was removed and transported by a local funeral home.

We have confirmed through sources the person in the garage is known and is part of the homeless community. A small encampment was set up on Vine Street over the weekend. Outreach workers tried to convince the people to move into available shelters but they remained on Vine Street.

Two other deaths in Manchester were in residential locations and appear to be people that have died from medical incidents.

Manchester Police, fire, AMR and outreach workers responded to a small encampment under the Bridge Street Bridge for an unresponsive person found in a tent on the side of the railroad tracks. The person was pronounced deceased at the scene and Manchester Police are processing the scene. Initial information is that the death appears to possibly be related to an overdose based on things at the scene. Manchester Information has learned the deceased person is an adult male.

Manchester Fire Chief Ryan Cashin verified that over the weekend everyone had access to the new 24/7 shelter on Beech Street. Although they were at capacity no one was turned away due to the extreme cold.
