Paul Patrick Green Jr, age 23, of 131 West 132nd Street, New York City, New York

NASHUA — Fourteen criminal charges have been filed against a New York City man who allegedly went on a damage-rampage and attacked a police officer when officers tried to arrest him on suspicion of attempting to buy a car with a fake form of identification, according to police.

And while Paul Patrick Green Jr., 23, of 131 West 132nd St., New York City, was being booked on the charges, police said he allegedly provided a false name, and was found to be in possession of stolen property.

Whether bail was set for Green or he was ordered held in jail for the time being isn’t known. His next court appearance is a dispositional conference, scheduled for April 6 in Hillsborough County Superior Court South.

The charges Green faces include one count each of identity fraud and attempted theft by deception, both Class A felonies. The remainder are Class A misdemeanors: Four counts, resisting arrest or detention; three counts, criminal mischief; two counts, manufacture, sale and possession of false identification; and one count each of receiving stolen property; unsworn falsification; and simple assault — extended term imprisonment.

The series of events that landed Green under arrest began when police were called to the Sunnyside Acura dealership, 482 Amherst St., for a report of a man attempting to purchase a vehicle while presenting a false form of identification, according to police.

Upon arrival, officers investigated and identified Green as the suspect, but when they attempted to detain, him, Green allegedly engaged officers in a struggle, causing minor injuries to one of them, police said.

While officers were attempting to detain Green, he allegedly damaged “various property items belonging to the car dealership,” police said.

Once they were able to get Green in custody, officers transported him to police headquarters for booking.

A subsequent investigation by detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division determined that Green “portrayed himself as another and made substantial steps towards fraudulently purchasing a vehicle from the dealership,” police said.

The officer that Green allegedly injured was treated at a local hospital, then released after being treated for minor injuries.

At the time of his arrest, Green was out on bail for similar offenses alleged to have been committed in Virginia. Green also had an active warrant for his arrest issued by the Chesterfield County, Virginia Sheriff’s office for failing to appear in court regarding those alleged offenses.
