Craft fair brings holiday bargains

By LORETTA JACKSON - Telegraph Correspondent | Nov 26, 2022

Billed as free and fun was the Nashua YMCA Annual Craft Fair, an event on Nov. 19 that brought to 24 Stadium Drive scores of attendees and dozens of vendors of holiday gifts, edibles, decor and handmades geared to intrigue both shoppers and browsers.

“I’ve been sewing since I was a kid but this is my first show — it’s fun,” said Nancy Braccio, a Hudson resident whose sales table displayed her quilts, sewn toys and baby apparel.

Nobody went hungry at the craft fair. Breakfast vittles, lunch fare and desserts including home baked cookies found buyers. Volunteer sellers were from “Y Dance in Motion,” an award winning troupe that included Kaleigh Mulligan, Tiffany Joslin, Kristen Capriotti and Siamara Niven.

Shoppers nearby crowded a booth manned by Sandra Ahmedamin, a vendor whose handmade holiday wreaths drew oohs and ahhs. Alongside, Chapreese Pennington represented Pampered Chef cooking and baking products.

The fundraiser for the Nashua YMCA also was graced with Nashua’s Carolyn Sirois, owner of “Aunties Mittens,” a business based on upcycling cast-off sweaters into new mittens. Sales helper Val Denault, a Nashuan, mentioned Sirois also can craft a memorial keepsake from a departed loved one’s favorite sweater.

Elsewhere, hot sauce bottles, jewelry and children’s clothing found takers, as did custom engraved finger rings and swathes of cotton candy spun from two aluminum barrels accommodating blueberry or cherry flavors. Few attendees went home with zilch in their totes.
