BOSTON

Boston’s Independence Day celebration kicks off as the city welcomes residents and visitors of all ages to experience the history, the culture and the independent spirit of Boston and our nation.

Through Monday, downtown Boston boasts a jam-packed slate of family-friendly events and entertainment that includes live music, historic re-enactments and programming, a classic car showcase, an Independence Day parade and more. There will also be not one but two fireworks displays: Boston Harbor fireworks get underway on Saturday at 9:15 p.m., a spectacular show that’s visible from nearly all of the Inner Harbor, and then the traditional Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular returns in all its glory on Monday, for the first time since 2019. Guest artists joining this year include Chaka Khan, Heather Headley, Javier Colon, the Middlesex County Volunteer Fifes & Drums, and Tanglewood Festival Chorus. Note that the July 3 rehearsal will be closed to the public to focus on the return of the Fourth of July celebration.

Boston Harborfest will conclude with The City of Boston’s 246th Independence Day Celebration on Monday, featuring a short parade from City Hall Plaza to the Old State House for the traditional reading of the Declaration of Independence.
