The YMCA of Greater Nashua had a recent visit from the Titan Book Mobile. Through a partnership with the Nashua Transit System, Nashua Education Foundation and the American Federation of Teachers, volunteers from the Bookmobile stopped at the Nashua YMCA to donate several cases of book to the YMCA’s afterschool program library.

The Book Mobile volunteers are all teachers and members of the Literacy Committee at Nashua North. Their committee has two goals: to promote a culture of literacy and improve students’ literacy skills within the high school and to promote a culture of literacy and love of reading in the greater Nashua community.

Prior to the pandemic, the Literacy Committee previously hosted a Family Literacy Day at Nashua North; however, when this type of large-scale event wasn’t possible last year, they began using the Book Mobile.

“We discovered that we liked the Book Mobile better as we were able to get books and other literacy materials into the hands of more children than if we did a weekend event at the school. We hope to continue the Book Mobile in years to come,” said Melissa Bartolomei.
